Looking back to what seems like a simpler time - now incredibly 20 years in our past already.
Highlighting the celebrations that took place December 31, 1999 leading up to the arrival of the new millennium. Here we watch the last moments of the 20th century, observed in the cities of Paris, Rome, Madrid, and Berlin.
There was such optimism everywhere that night. Some things since then may have disappointed us, but as another decade arrives now, maybe we need some of that again...
Have hope - the 21st century is still young.

I was in Paris that night, it was absolutely a dream of a life time (in the french alps the next day)! Only thing was that we were stranded there the whole night. There was no metro's running, cabs nothing. We waited outside a metro/subway until 5 in the morning to get back to our hotel. There were a lot of people stuck outside. I wouldn't change a thing........it was such a wonderful trip regardless!

The manufacturers who designed Paris' fireworks in 2000 were genius people. They managed to make the Eiffel Tower looked like it was a rocket taking off. Spectacular !

I was born in 94. This is one of the earliest detailed memories I have- in particular the Paris scene. I'm kind of proud of myself for being able to remember the changing of melliniums- I, nor anybody I could know will ever see one of those again live. Makes me feel kind of special. Lol, everybody else i know is like "whatever, big deal."

Crystal Meyer, in 1998, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA, I went to a Baseball game to see the former Baseball team the Winston-Salem Warthogs vs. the Durham Bulls Carolina League Baseball league at Ernie Shore Field and it was the Durham Bulls last game and the fireworks were just as big as these!

Hello. A couple of days ago I uploaded videos from the millennium videos too, but from Prague ( first video from Wenceslas Square at 23:35. The second one from Old Town Square with Czech countdown from the main celebration and the third video is a walk through Paris street directly to the main celebration with a monstrous firework. It was a very raucous celebration. It was amazing. Hope you enjoy the videos. The main thing is that I experienced this. It's a very nice memory of a huge celebration of the new millennium. Bonne Année les gens ! Im Parisian and unfortunately, since 3 years, there is no firework anymore in Paris because of delinquency and of course because it costs too much. BUT, the best and only firework of the year now in Paris is in front of the Eiffel Tower (like in the video), and it is for Bastille Day , on July 14th =) MUST SEE ! (sorry for my english) ! =)

When I looked at the date first this video was uploaded it said 1st January 2010 then I watched a bit more and went to write a comment about it nearly being 2016 the upload date said 31st December 2009! what happened?

@BiebsKnowHowToDougie No more fireworks on new year's eve at Paris cuz they banned it ;/ so last 2 new year eve's I spend in Rotterdam, great fireworks on their Erasmus bridge :)
