Thank god for your videos. I appreciate you making them. Very detailed and amusing. I bought a 1996 T4R 4WD in Norfolk VA and drove it home to SoCal. It was pretty rusted but it’s all surface rust. I have been watching all your videos on YT. Very helpful. You and Timmy the Toolman have the best videos online. Thank you!

This is a great video. Make sure you tag wheel bearing on it so it shows up for others. The tip for removing the hub is what I was looking for

This is super helpful. Where did you get those pressing tools (the cups, etc)? I can’t seem to find the right thing and I’m doing this same job
@andyloechler98964 жыл бұрын
pretty sure I got the kit of ebay do a search on ebay "26Pcs Universal Press and Pull Sleeve Kit Bush Bearing Removal Insertion Tool US" I would post the ebay URL but it's hella long
@hunterjohnson49544 жыл бұрын
Andy Loechler very helpful and just $56 too. I couldn’t seem to find a kit less than $200 haha. Some of the branded press sleeves kits, like Matco, are near a grand

Hey man awesome video , Just one question , I think my bearings are crap , just so I understand , if I were to pull the entire knuckle would the bearing come with it ? If so I can get a knuckle at the junk yard and fix my problem ?
@andyloechler98964 жыл бұрын
Yes the bearings are pressed into the knuckle. if you grab a complete knuckle you will also get the bearings.

the plates measure 13" long x 3" wide x 1" thick ebay is the place to get cheap plates. www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC2.A0.H0.Xpress+plates.TRS1.TSS0&_nkw=press+plates&_sacat=0 you might have to hunt a bit... but tons of them out there something like this should also be fine www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200001444_200001444?cm_mmc=Google-pla&Google_PLA&Metal%20Fabrication%20%3E%20Shop%20Presses%20%3E%20Shop%20Press%20Accessories&Arcan&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-JvaBRDGARIsAFjqkkqviTmP46BE90BMYUyz3xRYTkxXlT8BMNvSCy3Aoqx9_y9iEhi-v24aAqzmEALw_wcB more expensive and larger www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200640433_200640433?cm_mmc=Google-pla&Google_PLA&Metal%20Fabrication%20%3E%20Shop%20Presses%20%3E%20Shop%20Press%20Accessories&Sunex%20Tools&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-JvaBRDGARIsAFjqkkqul3PnFdnIQfRO8rQhJ5nNK3fmMGCkeJbsJOdYF1_i1GtdzFAlRsIaAmxIEALw_wcB you can also check local machine shops in your area they might have some stuff laying around? I think I got mine from norther tool but they don't seem to offer the exact plates I have anymore? press plates can be kind of a pain to track down. hope it helps? I know amazon also has some options as well.

This is really good information. Do you have information on how to reassemble with new bearings?
@andyloechler98964 жыл бұрын
if you take a look @ my other vid kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mqqZqamiq7enpac.html I press the bearings back into the hub. The procedure is a little different because the taco hub uses a different retainer on the inside of the hub. However the procedure should work just fine, again the only difference is the retainer on the inside.

also... if you need the factory service manual for the 3rd gens you can grab it off my google drive drive.google.com/file/d/1sNifvRVYi3VAurY_mVN7wyxPjYEvvgOz/view?usp=sharing look @section SA-9 Front Axle Hub. it runs thru the order Toyota wants you to use. I tend to get a little more creative on the press because I don't own all the SST tools.

@@andyloechler9896 you could make digital copies of the other manuals that would be amazing like the wiring diagram manual

I only have a long breaker bar. Is this job possible with a breaker bar?
@andyloechler98963 жыл бұрын
you need a press to do the job, unless you like to hammer things for a very long time.

I think the steering knuckle is Cast Iron isn't it?
@andyloechler98964 жыл бұрын
I have no idea how Toyota makes their knuckles. Some kind of Forging process I would guess? Since they have such high volumes I would guess it's hot stamped with dies, then machined surfaces and bearing surfaces bored. That is just a guess on my part. if you find out how they make their knuckles I would love to know, thanks.

You left out that the antilock gear needs to be screwed out before pressing it out.
