Thank god for your videos. I appreciate you making them. Very detailed and amusing. I bought a 1996 T4R 4WD in Norfolk VA and drove it home to SoCal. It was pretty rusted but it’s all surface rust. I have been watching all your videos on YT. Very helpful. You and Timmy the Toolman have the best videos online. Thank you!

I know it's an old video just wanted to say thanks. Very helpful. Hoping come spring to buy used spindles/knuckles and rebuild them and weld on some gussets.

The struggle is always real when it comes to toyota Spindles good video I always keep the Bearings For Press Work on other things as well as helps you for installing other bearings on some things like the rear axle bearings

This is a great video. Make sure you tag wheel bearing on it so it shows up for others. The tip for removing the hub is what I was looking for

This is super helpful. Where did you get those pressing tools (the cups, etc)? I can’t seem to find the right thing and I’m doing this same job

pretty sure I got the kit of ebay do a search on ebay "26Pcs Universal Press and Pull Sleeve Kit Bush Bearing Removal Insertion Tool US" I would post the ebay URL but it's hella long

Andy Loechler very helpful and just $56 too. I couldn’t seem to find a kit less than $200 haha. Some of the branded press sleeves kits, like Matco, are near a grand

Hey man awesome video , Just one question , I think my bearings are crap , just so I understand , if I were to pull the entire knuckle would the bearing come with it ? If so I can get a knuckle at the junk yard and fix my problem ?

Yes the bearings are pressed into the knuckle. if you grab a complete knuckle you will also get the bearings.

if you take a look @ my other vid kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mqqZqamiq7enpac.html I press the bearings back into the hub. The procedure is a little different because the taco hub uses a different retainer on the inside of the hub. However the procedure should work just fine, again the only difference is the retainer on the inside.

also... if you need the factory service manual for the 3rd gens you can grab it off my google drive drive.google.com/file/d/1sNifvRVYi3VAurY_mVN7wyxPjYEvvgOz/view?usp=sharing look @section SA-9 Front Axle Hub. it runs thru the order Toyota wants you to use. I tend to get a little more creative on the press because I don't own all the SST tools.

45 mins to do a knuckle. Depends on how hard you want to work. Im sure you can do it in maybe 15 mins if your jacked

you need a press to do the job, unless you like to hammer things for a very long time.

I think the steering knuckle is Cast Iron isn't it?

I have no idea how Toyota makes their knuckles. Some kind of Forging process I would guess? Since they have such high volumes I would guess it's hot stamped with dies, then machined surfaces and bearing surfaces bored. That is just a guess on my part. if you find out how they make their knuckles I would love to know, thanks.
