Thank you. Helped me out with my 5.2 Liter on my 1996 Dodge Ram 1500. We have the same fire order! A Lot of laying across the engine to get to that Distributor Cap but is doable, unlike tune up on my '95 Firebird!

One of the better videos I have seen. You actually show the Spark Plugs being taken out instead of just talking about it, and the clip that the wires run thru was good. That looked tricky getting them to snap apart without breaking; especially on a 20 year old vehicle as mine is a '99 Ram 1500 Laramie SLT 2WD. Numbering the Dist Cap was good. That 5/8 inch socket went down in those 'Heat Shield' sleeves just fine. Some people made videos that were perplexed as how to handle that. Some folks said to take a 22 MM socket and grind it down to a 19MM so it would slip inside those heat shields. LOL< Glad the 5/8 was sufficient. Hope the truck runs well.

Litterally gonna save somebody a headache pull 1 plug and plug wire at a time then replace it with the new plug and plug wire then move on to the next 1 you will never get them messed up

Its not Rocket science. Its easy to do this. The firing order is on the intake. If u can't follow that. Hire a Real Mechanic to do the job for U. Its 8 wires plus one coil wire. So that is 9 total wires. Stop smoking flaka so u can do it.

1. pull plug boot. 2 blow out schmoo before removing plug to avoid later disappointment and heartbreak.

I almost put tape on both ends of the plug wires with the cylinder number on it. Writing the firing order on the cap is a great idea aswell. My #7 cyl looks like your plug on #8

Excellent video friend!! It is the most complete and informative video I have ever seen, I already subscribed to your channel. I have a Ram Van 2500 5.9 engine from 2001, your engine looks identical to the one in my truck, I have a problem that no oil reaches both heads, the crankcase is clean, there is oil pressure, but no fluid came out of the the rocker arms, so what I did was take out the oil and add diesel, turn on the engine for 2 minutes and most of the ducts have been uncovered, but one is missing on the driver's side and three on the passenger side, if I disassemble the rocker arms and clean the rods or should I also remove the elevators?

That's hard to say exactly what's causing the issue. BG makes a product for cleaning engines that seems, (from what I've seen) to work pretty well. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ob9pZLyS3MvdpmQ.html

@@CharlesAndCars Thanks friend, that was the solution. I took out the oil and put diesel in it, I started the engine and cleaned all the rocker arm ducts, except for three of them, I hope they will also become unclogged over time, they had a lot of carbon that I suppose came off with the tapping of the pneumatic tool.

how do you get the driver side back 2 closest to the firewall(spark plugs)? and how do you get the black style tube looking not the clear plastic pcv valves out i ripped the black one apart and can't get it out. I can't get those 2 plugs, my 5.2l 2001 had the clear plastic pcv valve on the side where the breather element is supposed to be idk how or what this would do to the truck. I usually do work on the outside of the motor and leave the inside for the techs. The idiot who had it before me tightened the ignition coil Phillips head screw in so tight no one not even machine could get them out I am probably going to need to hacksaw the screws off. this is the worst tune up ever, and I have done them before on 20 different cars, probably over 100 times. I miss my K-10 or 15 idr but was 350 and easy to work on.

How do you tell what number the spark plug comes from? Should you fallow the wire from and mark at the plug hole? Or is there a set pattern for the engine? Would the Haynes Repair Manual have that info?

I'm assuming you mean what spark plug wire goes to which plug... There's a firing order cast into the front of the intake. There's also a #1 on the distributor rotor. The easiest way to keep them straight is to do them one at a time so you don't get them mixed up if you're not used to doing them.

No, you haven't moved the position of the distributor by changing the cap, so the timing doesn't change.

What is the little white clip plugged in just behind the air filter housing just under the housing clamp??? Mine is cracked and I can't find put what it's called.

Just did spark plugs and wires on 01 3.9 v6 280k miles after hours of fighting seized plugs just to start it and it runs worse then it did seems to run fine in park but when in drive no power and stuttering any ideas ?

Just did this, replaced the plugs, wires, ignition coil, distributor cap and rotor. Now the truck driving rougher than before the tune up. I assume the rotor isn't set properly?

Put a preface of duck tape down in the socket and the spark plug will stick to the tape and pull right out

I believe for this truck autolites were in it, so that's what they were replaced with. I think the oem for this truck (Mopar) is made by Champion. In general I try to use the OEM plug.

spark plugs come in multiple sizes for the actual socket size. May be a different size socket for what you have

I'm saying giving the hole if its deep what if the spark plugs comes all the way loose but the ratchet couldnt grab hold to it to pull it out like you did...

A spark plug socket will hold onto it... If you just have a "regular" socket... reach down in the hole with a magnet and it will grab the top end of the spark plug and pull it out...

Fuel filter is part of the pump assembly in the fuel tank.

Avoid autolite plugs if you can. I know they're the cheapest but their quality is for s**t. Go with NGK. Factory are Champions but ...no. Rethink the dielectric grease as well.
