Actually very necessary Information. A lot of people are confused by a vacuum driven system they think that it's a fuel pump and it's not It's just opening and closing a valve. I noticed that the majority of people installed the fuel line wrong after they tear the carbs off And then can't figure out why they're having fuel problems a video like this is very necessary.

I almost miss my katana 750. 90% of all suzuki fueling issues I have had to deal with have been solved by fitting a manual (non vacuum operated) petcock. It is nice when an issue is as simple as the wrong sparkie installed.

Ok then, so how do you stop leakby on the carbs filling the engine oil with gas? That's a real issue my man. Unless ya just rebuilt the carbs with new needle seats. I mean the vacuum loss stops fuel flow as there is no OFF position for the petcock "normally" on these bikes. Mine is Res/ON/Prime, no OFF. I always shut off my manual ones to stop that and run the bowls dry.

@@anonimous2451 petcock with an off. But I went with the carb rebuilds myself. I can't believe I cant get the brass screws for the butterfly plate. And the O-ring for the fuel pipes, are only for sale with the pipe. I wasn't spending $70 just to get the o-rings.

@@robertsmith2956Harbor Freight sells a metric and US standard o-ring kit that has saved me more times than I can count, but, has been incompatible many times over as well. Mostly due to their thickness being to great in some instances. But I definitely feel ya on that.

Sounds like your either overhesting orrrr Your not getting fuel due to the shit gravity system that also works with vacuum. Try making sure the hose on the petcock pulling vacuum has good seal. Then check that fuel line is not being pinched by fuel tank or kinked especially if you have fuel filter.

Honestly brother I could not tell you yay or nay to that I've never worked on one but I would assume the answer is yes because they didn't make too many body changes or changes to the engine for like a four-year span from 98 to 2002

I am working on a 95 katana and I am having trouble with fuel delivery. Carb has been rebuilt twice (by myself) new parts and reconditioned air diaphragm boots. problem 1. Can’t get fuel to come out of peacock. Bike will run for 10 minutes and when it uses up all the fuel it dies and won’t start for at least 24hrs. 2. Responsiveness- bike sounds great and responsive above 2k rpm or so; not so much at idle. 🤷🏻‍♂️ any thoughts? Spark plugs new, any vacuum is capped.

Replace the petcock on the gas tank. It is vacuum operated if it's not opening when the engine turns over and the compression comes on then it won't get fuel

@JTSMotorsports there should be one vacuum line coming off the carbs going to the petcock on the fuel tank. The rest of them should either have vacuum caps on them or their respective lines that lead to other places. If you have any open vacuum line you will create a multitude of problems for yourself make sure all the vacuum caps are in good shape if they need replacing because they're ripped or torn it is an absolute must the bike will not run correctly without vacuum

@@IFixShet Perfect, loads of help! One more thing if you don’t mind…pretty positive the jets are stock…how many turns out should I be from “seated” on fuel mixture screws underneath carbs? Bike is completely stock besides a custom 4-1 exhaust.

@JTSMotorsports anytime you're tuning carbs you always start with 2 1/2 turns out this is a Baseline to start and tune it from there. You should never have to go past 3 and a half turns out to have a tuned machine 😉

Sizzle? LOL, maybe I guess but I use a IR Gun to shoot the temps at startup. I also have a cold #4 cylinder and have already changed the plugs. Gotta go deeper i suppose. So what type petcock did you convert it to without the diaphragm? Or did ya just remove the diaphragm ??

do u no what the jet scews should be set at i just got bike and was nt running right so took carb off and cleaned them and when i counted turns on jet scewws thay all wher set at 4 1/4 turns that just dont seem right too me but dont no for sure thu want get them right before putting carbs back on any help be verry thankful for
