First Gen Sequoia JBL amp bypass!
In this video I show how to bypass Toyota's built in JBL amps using the OEM wiring with a small jumper for the rears. Rear amp under console. Front speaker amp in dash.

You are the King on this one. Noone on youtube or the web provides the details you provided in this video. Because of your video, I bypassed my 2004 Toyota Sequoia Limited JBL amplifier with an aftermarket 5 channels amplifier and an android head unit. Thanks for sharing and making my project easy. Well done, you are the best

Thanks for this video. It confirmed what I have researched. I went with a full audio system upgrade. The front JBL amp has 4 channels. Two channels driving the mid+tweeters and the other two driving the woofers. The woofer channels have low-pass filters built into the amp - this is clear when I first changed my speakers to a 2-way. The midbass driver I used to replace the old woofer was only producing very low frequencies. The channels for the rear JBL amp are full-range (coax speakers have filter cap for tweeter). I went ahead and got a 4-channel amp to drive 2-way component speakers in the front and new coax speakers in the rear. I then added a mono amp for a subwoofer in the small storage space in the back (it's a JL Stealthbox).

Very good! Glad the video is helpful to you. Mine is still working in spite of the crimp connectors! 😂 One day I'll do it properly!

I am infuriated by how complicated Toyota and JBL decided to make these systems.

8 weeks in and I've had no issues. I've made no mistake or had to redress the wiring. I was in haste and used crimp connectors in several places and deeply regret such a hack! LOL Very glad to help you!

Maybe I missed it, but what does the "grey", wire do. You said it's for the "switch"..?

This Video is great but I have an 01 and all the speakers on the drivers door suddenly stopped working and just make a buzzing sound now so I was thinking it might be a ground issue, do you have any idea what it might be?

so dude who said hede install an amp n subwoofer for me for 80$ wont be able to do it easyily? im reading and hearing that perhaps line out connector or something is necessary...does this have to be difficult.or can i put a 10 in. subwoofer in no problem?
@halusions

Line out on a new/aftermarket stereo is the easiest way. You could do it with the OEM deck, but you'll have to pull signal from the rear amp.

Man this video is great. I put new speakers in with a new deck and the front sound terrible. I though the bass speakers would have some midrange but nope. The midrange and the tweeter are on the same line. Wtf Toyota. Now I have to bypass the front amp (back is fine only kids back there) but I really need to know where you bought those inline crossovers. So I can split the factory tweeter and the new 6-1/2s I put in.

If you like Amazon or eBay, just search "two-way Stereo passive crossover" Make sure whatever you buy has woofer & tweeter outputs.

Seems like its easier to run new wire? Just delete the amps, connect the head unit to power, and run new speaker wire to the speakers. Factory speakers are 2-ohm, but that Kenwood is designed for 4-ohm. it'll run hot and may eventually fail.
