In this how to tutorial I show you how to bypass your factory bose amplifier. Bypassing the factory bose amp can give you more control and capabilities for your sound system. You can use this amp bypass tutorial to power your speakers by the aftermarket radio, run a 4 channel amp, fix an issue of a blown amp...etc...

Once you tapped in to that speaker wire and bridge those...do not plug that plug back into the amp? I noticed you left it out.. wasn't sure if that amp was powering other things in the car...

Gotta love laying down in trucks. Did the same thing in my 2016 Infiniti Q50 RS 400. Installed the audio control DM810 with 10 channels of highs and mids, then a JL HD1200 with a JL 12W7AE. Sounds so much better than the worthless blows system.

You can use a 9volt battery and a couple clip leads to find polarity on a speaker 👍

@@jptheinstallguy you know I unplugged the factory amp all together and my radio still works but my amps are being thrown into protection I don't think it had anything to do with the factory amp I'm getting too much power to my amps ,that is whats throwing it into protection when I take a connector off of my alternator it makes my Tahoe run around 13 v and my amps will not go into protection but that is not enough volts to run the Tahoe so I think all I really needed from the beginning was an amp regulator but I have no clue how I'm going to get the amperage I need with one of those . I normally only make music videos on my channel but I think I will make a video about this because it is blowing my mind

@jptheinstallguy so i have an 2014 infiniti q50 and want to add 2 amps 1 for sub and 1 for new speakers and also add a dsp with new speaker wires. So what i would want to do then is at the factory amp the input wires that go from the factory radio to the factory sending signal. I would tap into those wire and connect to the dsp then connect rca's from the dsp to the aftermarket amp's then connect the speaker wires from the amps to the speakers and sub CORRECT or no.

How would you go about adding additional amp/s to a factory head unit that already has built in amps? I have a 9 speaker system by Sony in a Focus ST and want to put bigger speakers in as well as an additional amp. In other words add to factory amps but not bypass them? Any advice would be greatly appreciated…

Thinking about doing this cause i have a aftermarket deck and im getting an annoying static noise (white noise). But what are your thoughts on just splicing head unit out to amp out to speakers just skip the factory amp?

To find correct phase without a phase tester you can also use a 1.5 battery just touch the speaker leads to both ends of battery and the other ends of the wire to speaker if you if you have correct leads the speaker will pop out if not it will suck in.

So i have a 2015 camaro "convertible " v6 without the Boston acoustic factory amp. It just has a regular factory amp the comes with the basic models so my question is can i still bypass my factory amp with this same method? There are alot of bypass kits for the Boston acoustic but i cant seem to find any way to get a bypass harness or find a way to re wire my basic factory amp

Had a question I got a 2005 envoy Denali with the Bose system I put coaxials and all the doors but the front speakers are only putting out bass no highs is there a way to bypass this or do something about this without rewiring the whole system .. I'm putting a 4-channel amp in and I got the coaxial speakers in each door I just want to know how I can get the front speakers working so there's not just bass

JP, clarity in Camaro fog! Thanks for that! Sorry this is long. I'm asking this question in becasue I need a little guidance. I have a 2017 Camaro 1LT, non-bose "a nightmare for audio upgrade. I replaced all speakers with 500 watt Kickers (2 ohm), but the horrible factory amp only pushes about 40 watts and happens to control many other functions. Shameful for a Camaro right!? Do you think I can use your method to bypass the factory amp, "without changing the head unit". Everything on my vehicle is controlled from the head unit, changing is not an option. In my mind's eye, I use your procedure on the amp output side, and wire directly to the new 4 channel amp (make still undetermined), input, then connect the speakers to the amp output. Would you do it this way? Or should I take only the audio signal coming from the head unit and wire (bypass) to the new amp? I feel like I should use some kind of digital level control mid-stream, before the new amp input. If you help me through this, I will put your banner on my car! I show it every Friday here in Orlando. Thanks David

I’m wondering can you just just take out the factory amp and tap right into wire harness with a 4 channel amp. I’m trying to get a louder clearer sound in my Denali. I guess I could still run it the way jp did just would have to run the power wire to the battery but I’m wondering if I could use the power wire that’s powering the factory amp and would the gauge be efficient enough

You can bypass the amp with a harness from OWC Upgrades. It just plugs into the factory connections and then you connect your aftermarket gear to it. Best money I ever spent.

One thing though. The higher wattage of the new amps your putting in and the increase in amperage, the factory gauge wires aren't big enough. So it's better to run new wiring and not power and speaker wires together throughout the entire run.

Great video, bro. 1 question: Can I just cut all wires from connector side of harness ( factory amp side of harness ) , then tie my new speaker lead-wires into that connector harness, from the NEW amplifier, and reconnect connector side of harness back into factory harness? That should get power to all speakers if done correctly, then I can run power and ground, may not even need remote wire to radio bc factory harness has remote which I have connected behind aftermarket headunit already. I already installed a Interface kit to retain steering wheel controls- which is working great, but factory amp keeps cutting off, so this is my plan to bypass.

Couldn't i just run the input wires from factory amp to the inputs on the new aftermarket amplifier...? Then take the output wires from factory amplifier and wire those to the output on the new amp...im trying to understand why i need go behind factory radio unit for a signal if they already there from the factory amp only thing i should have to do is run a 4-8ga power wire and ground wire for new amp? Jus a theory

Using this car as an example, would you run rca’s from the aftermarket stereo to the rear aftermarket amp? Then use the “outputs” of the Bose to hook up to aftermarket amp output? That way you don’t need 9 wire right?

So I did everything you you did in the videos so now when I turn my radio on it only plays music and bass out of my subwoofers but none of my door speakers are playing music any idea why that is?

There's a great tool out there to test the speaker wires to see which speaking is on the other end (popping it) AND determine polarity. And you probably already have one at home! No need to spend more money. It's called a 9V Battery. Ever-Ready and Duracell make some nice ones. All you do is use a couple of small electronics jumper cables, or even the bare end of the wires if you don't mind dealing with shorter wires, and place the battery across the wires. That's it! You'll hear the speaker pop, and you'll also be able to see which direction the cone moves to verify polarity. Just make a note of which wire is hooked up to the + on the battery.

I have a 2016 ATS non-cue. My question is, I’m using a Schosche LOC2SLSD, I am only hooking up an aftermarket sub/amp (Skar IX10”D2, Skar RP800.1) do I need to run anything to the head unit? Or can I tap the LOC into the rear speaker wires/signal. I want to get it right the first time. The Bose system is in it and the amp is a 4 harness (black, brown, grey, green). Thanks.

You can tap the rear speakers as long as it’s not crossed over after the factory amp. If it’s crossed over you will need to find a full signal to power the sub amp signal.

if you have the right wire harness it should integrate just fine so no need to bypass unless you want to run your speakers off the radio or another amp

What with speakers impedance and new radio unit ? Bose at most produce 1-2 Ohm speakers and every aftermarket radio has 4 Ohm for channel.

Is it possible to bypass the factory amp with out sending wires to the stock stereo? In other words can i bypass the factory amp and just connect everything str8 to my aftermarket amp. If so how??? Do i tap into the factory input wires to gain signal for the rca converter box for the amp and tap into the factory output wire to connect the amp to send signal from the aftermarket amp. Because Im really trying to avoid taking my whole dash apart and doing it that way. i located the factory amp in the trunk so i figure it be easier if this is possible. Why didn't you just jump the wires from one harness to another (therefore bypassing the amp) and use the Metra 7551 (or whatever the connector is that allows for speaker level connection behind the head unit) which should let you use the cars stock wires to carry the signal to the speakers?

I have a 2005 suburban with the bose amp. If i take the speaker wires from the factory and connect to an after market amp to run my door speakers. Do I or can I also run the power and ground as well or do I even need to do that? I already have an amp for my 12 inch subs. Im trying to avoid running 2 amp power cables to the battery.

Use a distribution block to provide power to the second amp... That way you can tap into your original power cable, and then just run a second cable that's only 2-3 feet into the new amp, and of course give it it's own ground (or use another distribution block as a ground block). Also make sure that your power cable is thick enough to handle the additional wattage of the second amp.

Do I have to use the LOC on the factory amp if I just want to install an aftermarket 1-channel amp and sub? Or could I receive the signals from the factory stereo? My car is a 2018 Honda Accord EX-L.

your factory stereo doesnt have a set of rca's behind it thats why you would need the loc so if you have a factory amp you can easily catch the speaker wires at the amp but if not than you have to catch it at the speaker or behind the radio

JPtheinstallguy Could I instead use the LOC on the rear speakers or the factory sub? The factory amp is tough to get to.

@@Apezilla if you can get to the sub use the sub especially if you are wanting to hook up a sub amp if you dont have a factory sub the rear speakers will be just fine

@@jptheinstallguy Yo JP, I got a similar problem. I got an 08 civic coupe with premium 7 speaker system. I want to add a 4 channel amp to juice up my new front and rear speakers. For the LOC inputs, do I connect them to the speaker wires from the factory amp or the inputs of the factory amp? I would then run the 9 wire to the amp and cut the corresponding speaker wires right? Or do I leave the factory amp inputs alone and just use the speaker wires?

@@jptheinstallguy ok quick question if we use the factory sub speaker wires that's 1 positive and 1 negative but then going to the lc2i for instance that requires left and right positive and negative. How would we use just the factory sub wire positive and negative ?

Being that the factory speakers are 1ohm speakers, how did the sound turn out using the aftermarket headunit amp to drive them? That typically doesn't work too well being that most 4 channel amps head unit or standalone are rated at 4-8 ohms.

The speakers are actually 2 ohm ran in series for a 1 ohm load

Okay so I found my factory amp on my car also found the speakers wire on the amp , now I run that to my aftermarket radio , so now where do I get the power from ?
