I'm working on an 01 4runner, someone left the 4wd engaged in regular driving and sheared the input shaft on the front diff(or perhaps low oil and high temps fatigued it). The friction in the front diff burnt up the connector and wires leading to some shortage and resistance from corrosion. Luckily the tracks were barely harmed but it took me a few repeats of cleaning the commutator, reassembling, and sending 12v back and forth to get it moving again

Hello, thank you for that detailed video, but you got me even more confused? So to be clear this is actuator is from the front differential? Not the actuator from the transfer case? So does that mean that it locks the front 2 wheels like a locker?

I have a 2001 Hilux LN167 and when I put it in 4x4 with the diff locks on it jumps out back to 2H when I set off. 4x4 Low works fine. It does not jump out of 4H when the diff locks are off. Any idea what might be happening? What do I need to look at?

Good job bro. I hate those contacts on the spinning wheel and the brushes. I had brushes go bad on a transfer case actuator. My ADD is electroVacuum. Older style. I’m other words, it’s brushless.

HELP !!!! Can someone point me in the right direction in resolving my 98 4Runner issue? When I engage 4H it goes in silent but when it goes back to 2H (disengage) there is a loud bang (like a sled hammer bang). The is a delay for about 30 second to disengage as I drive down the road below 25mph. The 4wd light indicator goes on when I press the button and it goes off when I depress the button, the light never blinks. My other 4Runner does a loud click only. I don't know the history on the car but I have changed all the oil already.
