Thanks! Your video helped me find the same issue, a severed line near the vacuum canister where it goes through the body.

I was having the same issue but for me it was actually the transmission relay, it somehow got water in it and it rusted out. Sadly that really is discontinued by Toyota so had to put a generic relay and that fixed the issue.

where is the relay located?

@@twinturboranch454 it’s underneath the glove box on the passenger side on the right. It say transmission relay on the relay.

i wanted to verify. you are talking about the transmission relay and not the 4wd relay correct? i already had checked for the 4wd relay on mine 2 months ago and it doesn't exist in my year model. but i didnt check for a Transmission relay.

Make sure you’re in neutral Press the button on the side of your four-wheel-drive gear to see if it engages if it doesn’t try to do for low to see if engages the light should come

I cant see what you did. Did you cover the hole with the electrical tape? Or just wrap the tape around it? Im having this problem on my 96 limited

Sorry about that There was a connector they had three openings on it my truck only used two of them so is letting the vacuum out right next to the solenoids just down from the battery Dealership said I need a whole new 4 x 4 system been driving it ever since I haven’t a single problem with it going in 4x4

Hey man idk if you will respond by my 4wd doesn’t work on my 1990 Toyota pickup it has auto lock hubs and it’s not engaging I tried to flip the vacuum lines around and still nothing the light doesn’t pop on but the front driveline still spins but the tires aren’t moving any tips ?

So what is it doing is it acting like it’s engaging but not does your light on the dash flash or doesn’t do anything

No bro, the ligth is not come on and the whells are not vending, tha front whells are not working

Ivan Check your fuses first if your fuses are good tap on the solenoid to see if it engages with a rubber mallet if it engages then it’s your solenoid

Sorry about that it’s a vacuum Solenoid For the four-wheel-drive On mine is located right under the battery on the fender well There was a splitter they had a Hole in it I fixed it with electrical tape and the four-wheel-drive work
