@crisp09 vanessa was nominated in both 1997 and 1998 and yes, those were good years. both noms are on youtube. but i thought her 2002-03 stint was incredible; every scene was spot on! she knew her character and hit every mark.

Cady totally deserved it that year. But, at least she won an Emmy for the portrayal of Rosanna one time. Yes, her look is priceless when Vanessa's name is announced.

@AdArmand Amen to that...Robin C. was brilliant as Skye during the early 2000's, including the year this Emmy Awards was for (2002)...she is one of the most underappreciated and talented performers in daytime and has been for over 2 decades...she deserved this Emmy

rebecca budig: best reaction face... polite and gracious / linda took a sec to register, but also gracious / cady and robin were PISSED / kelly looked sorta indifferent. vanessa was most gracious, saying repeatedly in interviews she thought robin christopher should have won.

Did you hear those fans screaming for Vanessa Marcil and Maurice Benard? Obviously the fans were happy for her win and she deserved it. She was smart, her scene was a bit more light hearted than the other reels submitted by the other actresses.

Fucking Daytime Emmy Award Bastards. They better fucking award Judge Judy a Daytime Emmy Award. I was apalled last year when they awarded some rookie court show that just came out and was recently cancelled the Emmy Award as opposed to Judge Judy. Judge Judy has been on the air for 13 years and gets the highest ratings out of any other court show. Judge Judy's highly powerful, influential opinions and has been constantly asked to come on CNN to do interviews. Give Judge Judy a damn Daytime Emmy

that emmy was way overdue for VM. It was a wonderful year for her and maurice benard both. I watched the emmy's live that year and could not stay in my seat when they both won.

i think rebecca buding should of won because of the greenlee leo death storyline but i also liked Vanessa Marcil but when leo died i thought it was better

Deserved? She worked on the show for four months of the entire year. Everyone else was on for 12 months. And what tapes of hers looked Emmy worthy?! I recognize both the tapes she submitted. They did not look Emmy worthy to me. Why does she deserve an award just because the judges feel sorry for her? Pity awards should not be allowed. And Robin has played Skye since 1996 and has been on soaps much longer than VM, plus she is much classier and a team player.

@neetrab no just a fan with common sense to recognize that what VM did for her return hardly correlated to Emmy winning acting (of course her win was pure politics instead of on talent). Her fans usually can't stand when people don't find her all that and a bad of potato chips, you not being an exception (to quote you "lol") ;)

@katjamendez HA "primetime gold". Yes if she's such a hot commodity, why's she not a lead star on a major show like Castle (oh wait that's another former soap star)? Any role she had only involved being a window dressing supporting character. I could care less how much she raised ratings (Likewise, GH hit major lows during her return now). GH owes much of its continuing as a long running series to Tony Geary, not VM. She's not entitled to demand more without established seniority.

@cajayson8301 you seem to be overlooking the fact that vanessa brought 800,000 viewers to GH when she returned. vanessa is daytime AND primetime gold, judging by her immense popularity on GH, 90210 and las vegas. tony geary is a great actor, but his return did not increase ratings as much and geary didn't have success outside GH. he may be daytime royalty, but vanessa is a star. besides, vanessa said her departure from GH was about wanting more time with her son.

Have to be biased as Cady McClain(Dixie) Robin Christopher(Skye),Rebecca Buddig(Greenlee), Linda Dano(Rae Cummings,Ske's mom.Cool as Linda Dano was on all 3 ABC soaps as the same character.) have all been All My Children girls so I thought at least one of them should win over (Vanessa)Brenda.Cady got it the next year but all are deserving. Vanessa left too quickly and not appreciative.lol

I have always thought Robin was a great actress. However, that particular year belonged to Vanessa. Robin should have already gotten an Emmy by then just like Denzel should have been on his 3rd Oscar by the time Training Day came around. So we can just agree to disagree.

@8j8j8ae what is so Emmy worthy about VM's performance? Her four month return was comprised of nothing more than giggling, idiocy and wrapping her legs around any man she could. She only won it out of pity from the judges who found ABC too untoward in regards to her RIDICULOUS demands. As is the case with some Emmy wins, politics plays a large role (no pun intended) in the overall outcome.

VM asked for more money and a reduced work schedule, in fact she asked to make more than Tony Geary. ABC rightfully said no...now, if she asked for less work and to make $2,000 more a year, that I am sure would be reasonable but to make more than Geary? Totally ridiculous. That is what meant with how ABC treated her "badly" which I believe they did not. My source, who is 100% accurate on everything she tells me, said she only won because the judges felt sorry for her.
