2003 Hummer H2 Instrument Cluster Repair

In this video I repair a 2003-2007 Hummer H2 Cluster. This one is a 2003. Bonus mirror repair near the end. Turned out to be a replaced board in it and the customer just wanted the bulbs removed. I don't recommend removing bulbs.

Defiantly a 05 PCB (06 would have the LED PRND321). This is one of those unfortunate situations where someone may have thought they where buying a low mileage vehicle only to have the previous owner do the ol' cluster switcharoo. I think the miles are also stored in the PCM (although that data is not shared with the cluster odometer). I would like to have seen the true miles found, and that replacement cluster VIN flashed so every thing would work right. But I know sometimes you just have to work with what your given.

Yeah I definitely would have preferred to do that. Do you know how to pull the mileage off the PMC on these? I've never looked into it but it definitely makes sense for it to be on there. I'll be honest I don't trust any odometer anymore now that I know how to program them lol.

@@FixedUntilBroken I haven't had an opportunity to try to pull miles off the main computer. I've heard it's possible from a few different places. I really should look into it. I can try to pull it off my serial bus tester with my tech 2.

@@jeffescortlx if it works you should do a video on it. I have a clone tech2 but I don't use it much. I haven't been able to to get the tis2000 software to work on Windows 10. I need to buy a computer with a rs232 port and Install xp on it

I got a 03 H2 sometime the instrument cluster does not come on and when I pull it from the back it comes on just for a little while can you fix and how can I send it to you if you can

my speedometer and oil pressure gauges aren't working---had water leak thru running light - should I just replace entire gauge (05')

I mean that just sounds like failed stepper motors. Liquid damage can he tricky it's hard to say without seeing it.

How about the 2 resistors below the large group of them. Is it dim or out? Are you powering the board with 14 volts or 12?

What is the brand and part number of the VFD that you use?

The VFDs aren't sold anymore I just salvage them off boards that aren't worth the effort of repairing. Do you need one?

To answer the question though they are Futaba brand. I don't remember the part number off the top of my head but I have looked for them before and couldn't find anyone selling them.

@@FixedUntilBroken I need a fix for mine as well. Basically none of the moving parts on the cluster work apart from the RPM meter' fuel gauge and tyranny temp gauge work 🤦‍♂️ could you quote me a price. It's a 05
