Played it again as he followed your instructions. You saved him! The shifter went out of park and he could drive home. As a side note he just turned 75 yrs old and it is 100 degrees here. Last night, a whole bunch of electrical problems appeared out of nowhere. Hard to believe I'm ever surprised, since that's pretty much how it always is. I think mine is a grounding issue. Well anyway, after buying a few things and returning to my truck ('05 F150), it started right up but would not release the gear shift lever. Your's was the first video that popped up on KZfaq. Worked perfectly and I was on my way. On top of solving my problem, your video was short and concise too. Gave it a thumbs up and am now a loyal subscriber. Thanks a TON!

Another possibility is the ground wire right behind the passenger side panel where ur foot would go on the left side. Pull the plastic away from the frame and look for a bolt with wires bolted into the frame. If it’s rusted then your shifter won’t shift if your head lights are on

What’s the part number? All I can find is the floor shifter release, I had to return the part, but can’t find the one for the wheel column shown here. The screwdriver works great great for the meantime though, tnx.

I found out about this fix from AAA , I was stuck in a parking lot and had to call AAA. The guy used a ice pick to push that lever.

So change that to fix it
