The iconic Mr. Bean car Mini was sold for a really long time ever since 1959 albeit in multiple "mini" refreshes. By the late 90s, it was a proper ancient vintage car, long overdue for a refresh.
Rover and BMW then decided to create the successor to the classic Mini but they had a bit of a disagreement. Rover wanted to create another econo-car, while BMW being BMW wanted it to have a little touch of the Ultimate Driving Machine. In the end, BMW came out triumphant by doing the only logical thing to do in an argument, that is by completely buying out your rival, and thus, the great nippy little Mini Cooper as we know it today was born.
From the basic R50 Cooper with just around 116PS to the R53 Cooper S (and JCW model) with a supercharged 1.6L Tritec engine producing 170PS, and even a R52 Cabriolet convertible model, as well as both automatic and manual transmission options, there was a new Mini to fit each quirky individual's taste and budget.
The one we have here today is a well-maintained 2004 Mini Cooper S R53 body with over 106,000 Miles (a ridiculously high number for Philippine mileage standards) and a lovely 6 speed manual transmission. An extremely agile, nippy, and fun car that's a little bit of a toy, but without giving up its robustness as a vehicle.

I love my 2004 R53 Mini he is super fun on the curvy roads!! Just make sure when parts fail to replace them immediately. They are pretty pricey to maintain but the joy I get from the car is worth it. This is my 2nd Mini and my favorite one

I owned a 2012 MCS. I loved it. Do you feel the first Gen are more fun to drive? I’m looking for another mini and I actually tested a 2015 MCS and I liked it.

Hi! Are you sure that this unit have 170 HP and not 163 HP? It is the pre-liftinf version so it must have 163 HP, I think.

Yes you’re correct, but it’s still “coupe-like” for be cause of the 2 doors and the frameless windows hahaha

@@KyleLiongCars So in terms of performance how much gas can you spend per week, I'm thinking of buying a 2004 r50 to work at uber eats but I don't know if it will be a good purchase

Not quite sure about the economics back there in the US, but over here with crazy fuel prices, barely any gasoline car is worth it for Grab/Uber/Ubereats. We stick to diesels here

@@KyleLiongCars not as bad as it looks. i think the hardest things to do are the alternator, and the throttle body. that said, neither of these failed the whole time i had mine
