Had an issue with the check engine light showing a misfire code on cylinder 6 on the 2005 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4WD (4thGen). Found out the issue was caused by a leak in one of the exhaust valves. This 4 part videos series shows how to remove the heads, rebuilding the heads, and putting everything back together. In the final part 4 of the video series, the reassembly of the engine is complete and share the engine performance 6 months after the completion rebuild at the end of the video.

Great step by step tutorial. Great job. Very informative. I hope to never have to do this but, if I had go, I’d be pulling the motor out to save my back. But tighten that harmonic balancer after reinstalling motor though.

There was a lot of climbing in the engine bay that's for sure. Having an SST for the harmonic balancer would have been great.

Just got the heads back from the shop we put 1 head on so far, this is a long process but your videos are helping. The only thing we did wrong is went 90 degrees 3 times on a head bolt so we backed it out 90 😂😂.. time for part 3 and 4! Thank you so much!

Yea I need to do mine. 2005 sequoia overheating 250k leaning towards an engine swap or HG in a bottle repair. This just looks like way too much work 😂 thanks for the info

Oh and around how long do you think this took for you to do? I won’t be rebuilding the heads but I’d like to at least replace the gaskets. I don’t have a set of helping hands but it doesn’t seem too bad.

@@matthipple4584 No issues with timing belt/water pump kit that is in the video description. Aisin is the OEM part manufacturer so it would be the same parts you get at the dealer. It's hard to say as far as time goes. This was done over many weekends over a couple months. It probably took me about 40-60 inexperienced hours for the job.

If your starter isn't cranking, it's the battery. If your starter is cranking it could be many things like fuel pump, vacuum leak, spark plug, or compression issue. Hard to say without looking at it but it might be worth a paying a mechanic to diagnose it before you try fixing it yourself.

190k miles. Not sure what would cause a burnt exhaust valve. I've heard anything from using bad gas to a plugged fuel injector.

How much was the total job Need to do the head gaskets on mine over heated now have a massive misfire

@@pascualmelendez8345 About $1500 but that includes the price for the shop to do the head rebuild and replacing all of the parts.

I don't have a part number for the head itself since I had mine rebuilt. But if you're taking the head off, this kit has just about everything you need: 04112-50442 OEM part #.
