The bike is a 2005 BMW R1200GS fitted with ABS from the factory. With age and use the ABS systems tend to fail, which is why I removed mine completely. I hope this video helped you!
BRAKE LINE LENGTHS AND FITTINGS:
All are 10×10mm banjo female style fittings.
Front: 27in - one straight, one straight with a 15° left curve (lever side)
Rear: 24in - one 90°, one straight with a 15° up curve (caliper side)
(you could do a longer length depending on how you want the lines routed)

Thanks for the info. I would have liked to see a final test of the brakes instead of the lights etc.

What kind of test are you thinking? I can make another video to showcase more thoroughly.

It was a very nice video. How did you turn off the ABS fault lights?

It is a sad reality that abs is not perfect and must be eliminated. My r1200gs also occasionally gets a signal on the abs lamp. Sooner or later I will have to watch your video and follow along. thank you for the video

It is an unfortunate reality that comes with age on this model. Feel free to message me here or on instagram in the future if you need more in-depth information. 👍

Signal on the abs could also be that small screw on the brake leverage loosing contact to the switch relay. It's not always abs and change brake oil once in a year.

Sorry, but i didn't understand what did you do with the cables they go from the Module to the Motors?
@WanderRanger75

I cut the wires that went from the module to the servos and sealed them with heat shrink. You will have warning lights on the dash after, but I covered those with electrical tape. The spedo and tach should work fine as well.

Great video! I am about to buy a 2005 R1200GSA with 50000miles on it. If the brakes are still working, do you think it is safe to ride it home (1250miles)? I.e. how would I know it is about to fail? Are there any warnings?

Sorry about the delayed response to your comment. After start-up if there are no warning lights and the brakes feel good, it should be fine. Even if the servos go out, it will still allow the brakes to be used manually. So either way, you should be fine as long as the rest of your brake system is working normally.

@@WanderRanger75 Thanks for the reply! I made the 2000km trip without problems. Rear brake is super soft, but pump seems to work. So I will just flush the whole system. Thanks again for the reply and info in the video!

Did your speedometer still work after the ABS delete??

Sorry about the late reply, but yes, spedo and other display items work fine. The warning lights will be flashing. But I fixed those with some tape. The bike since has taken me cross country and back with no issues. 👍

So did you cut all the cables inside the ABS module? I just removed the ABS pump.
@WanderRanger75
@WanderRanger75 Жыл бұрын
Yes, all the wires that ran to the servo side of the ABS module I cut and sealed with heat shrink. There will be warning lights flashing when you re-install it, but it will allow the bike to run as normal, and the speedometer and tachometer should work normally as well. For the warning lights, I just covered those spots with electrical tape.

Speedometer and tachometer are working but got a big difference in speed on the clock and gps.

@@Devvaas I haven't noticed a big difference in speed, but I also don't use a GPS spedo at the same time when im on the bike. How much of a difference are you seeing?
