I have wanted an RV for an exceptionally long time, so I have decided to convert my 2005 Cadillac Escalade into a SUV Camper. Here is the progress I have made so far working on it. I have not removed my back seats, only my 3rd row. It gives you so much more room. I love it! You’ve done a great job.

No, not at this time. I use them at different times. My bed is a trifold, so I can use the seats.

Somehow your tour came up in my feed and I watched your completed project first! I would have never, in a million years thought that you could fit all of that in your SUV! Would you like to come to Oceanside California and take care of my 2003 Honda Odyssey minivan?! 😂 If I had 100th of your talent, well, I just can't tell you how amazing that would be! If I have a bed and a potty, I will feel like I have accomplished something! 🤣 My trifold mattress arrives today and I have not even installed any flooring! Thank you so much for being so encouraging and showing everyone what you have done! I just love it so much! Eventually, I will be living in my Odyssey and my needs are very simple as I am an urban camper! Drive-thrus are my friends 🤣💜💜💜 I had such a nice camper van that I lived in for two and a half years and I wish I had never, ever, sold my Tank! 😥💜

Lucky you are in warmer weather! I’m near the Canadian boarder and moisture and cold are top priorities here so I always camp with my Exped Mega Mat Duo 10 insulated self-inflating (adjustable firmness) mattress. It’s memory foam with insulation, so it’s an R-value of 9.5 and super comfy. I love my Alpicool 12V 21L compression fridge and Jackery 1000 battery.

I am always fighting agents the heat, I like sleeping in the cold and bundle up way more then trying to find ways to cool off in hot tight spaces. The Alpicools are the best!

Yes polyurethane is really flammable, I did put heat shields to help reduce problems but you can never be to carful. Thanks for watching out for me!!

NOVETE Compact Dishwashers --> www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089YD3Z91/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I will do a video here on the dishwasher, there is no extra supplies you would need depending on how you want to set it up. Just have water to fill it up and have a location to dispose of the water and of course the dishwasher soap.

Did you have to remove any airbags/sensors when you removed all the seats and plastic trim? I want to grab a used SUV instead of a minivan and build something similar so its flat to put a floor in but then I had forgotten about possible airbag problems.

No you should be good, the only sensor I removed was the back up sensor for reversing. But discounting it doesn't give any errors or check engine lights. But if you going to buy something rather then use what you have get a minivan, having more headroom is huge and SUV have lower ceilings.

@@suvlife7187 they also have way worse gas mileage but often much better clearance and power. It’s a toss up for sure. I think it depends HOW it’s going to used. For urban living, especially if you are staying mostly stationary, then a van is nice, and you can take it on long drives for camping trips. If you are planning to do a lot of off road camping and spend a lot of time outdoors then the SUV is a nice option, especially since you can set up a shelter or tarp off the back or side for more room and standing.
