When you're the proud owner of the Dodge Ram 3500 5.9 Litre 24 Valve Cummins Turbo Diesel, you feel proud to say to your friends and colleages that you have the Dodge Ram 3500 5.9 Litre 24 Valve Cummins Turbo Diesel.

One of the aspects of this motor that makes it indestructible is the timing gear. There’s no timing chain, the cam is driven directly off the crank with an industrial strength gear set. This motor can pull out oak tree stumps.

This is not referred to as a 24v. It’s a Common Rail. Yes, it’s a 24v, but colloquially the 24v refers to the ‘98.5-‘02 VP trucks.

I love these trucks! The 3rd gen Rams (I'm not the biggest fan of the 06 front end facelift) are one of my favorite styles as they're very laid back and they don't need to look super intimidating, the engines are very solid, and they're simple, but not so simple where you have mechanical fuel injection. It really gives the best of the modern electronics, 24 valve heads, without being so new that they are post-emission vehicles. The 6 speed also brings an awesome feeling just thinking about it. If I actually needed a truck to hotshot with and I could find one (even if it's an 06-07 as well with the 5.9), I'd love to snap it up! I hope the truck treats Matt well.

The majority of these trucks are automatic. A built auto is stronger then the manual. The built auto is faster. The built auto is easier to drive. The auto is not a bad transmission once built. I have two manual Cummins. Trash talking autos is stupid. They are better. Both stock auto and manual are weak.

Incorrect. Auto is FANTASTIC! A converter and valvebody work wonders, fully upgraded unbeatable.

PS, I guarantee there are more automatic trucks still on the road than manuals. When you physically make more autos, and most guys with a manual that use them for hauling or ranch, they die more. Show us your ignorance some more though, it’s laughable

@@wyo_garage20 actually about how much does it cost to build one up. I'm new to the 3rd gen era of the trucks and was just seeing the pre built ones but figured it had to be a way to upgrade as the car scene I'm used to

These engines are legendary for a reason. With a manual, he can probably still get good money for this truck even though it's a bit worn. I always found it funny that if you order a Ram with tow mirrors, you get antler mirrors all the time even if you're not towing. Ford and GM figured out how to make them slide in and out but Ram just lets them stick out and up.
