On Sunday, Sept. 18th, at the 2005 NAS Oceana Air Show located in Virginia Beach, VA. Presented by VF-101 "Grim Reapers" was the F-14 Tomcat tactical flight demonstration, ONE LAST TIME IN HISTORY!!
Note: You might've have seen this same video that was edited a different way by me and uploaded on a different video site called metacafe.com, but somebody somehow downloaded it and uploaded it onto his own channel and taking credit for it without my permission. His own link to it is right here at • tha last f-14 tomcat demo . His youtube channel is "Skylife" or @SkyLifeFlyer, and his formerly youtube title was "jorgemdllin", and I have kindly asked him to put it down because it's my own video, but he would not agree to it and he started cursing and swearing at me and calling me bad names online and he refuses to do so. And it looks like youtube will not do me any favors to delete it from his site. So it looks like i'll just have no choice but to let him get away with it, unfortunately.

Spelled “Corps” incorrectly, which is unlikely for a former Marine officer. The F-14 was a navy fighter, not USMC. 41 years in the Service would be on the far end of time, even for a flag officer. I smell bs.

I was at this show. I was in VA Beach for my cousin's wedding. His father, a retired USN Captain got us passes for the officers' tent out on the tarmac. Best air show experience I have EVER had. I was honored to see the final flight of a legend in US air power. Seeing the Tomcats, the Hornets, the Phantoms, and the Intruders in one show was just amazing. The Blue Angels didn't fail to impress and a JATO takeoff and reverse-thrust landing by Fat Albert was simply mind-blowing. And that rocket truck... yikes. Days like that one make you proud to be a part of the greatest and mightiest nation on earth.

If you can find video of any air shows from Iran, they have the Tomcats flying multiple times in every single air show that I have seen!!!! Search for videos and watch how the Iranian F-14 pilots talk about them and the crazy stories they have to tell about flying The Tomcat in combat! They ABSOLUTELY love them as much as we do! They call it the Golden eagle :) They've upgraded the engines and the weapons systems and the radar systems! They developed and manufacture the parts and technology to advance their old F-14A Tomcats to at least A+, not quite the level of F-14B that we had, but they are STILL flying them! Says a LOT about how well designed and durable the design is if it is maintained properly :)

As soon as I heard there was gonna be a sequel, I immediately thought that a superb plot would be that one way or another all modern fighter jets became grounded or destroyed, leaving no air defence... until someone mentioned there was a stash of F 14’s hidden away somewhere and they had to save the day... maybe far fetched/impossible but how epic would that be to see them in the new movie saving the day ?

@@MeMyselfI_69 They had an amazing concept with AST-21, but Dick Cheney and his Hornet mafia wanted the money to be routed to the far less capable Super Hornet with the promise of it being much cheaper. However, Super Hornet as it turns out, ended up costing $5+ billion in development. The Tomcats especially B/D variants ran circles around the Rhino when it came out. One pilot who transitioned from Tomcat to Rhino said, it was like going from a super fast Porsche to a Beetle. Grumman pegged AST-21 at far less cost because the airframe already was so ahead of its time on the Tomcat, that minimal changes were needed for the design,

@@juanmora9148 The F-14 was an absolutely magnificent machine, but had some rather problematic issues: high maintenance requirements, relatively poor low-speed maneuverability compared even contemporary fighters, and oh, yeah, a rather unnerving tendency to explode due to the failure of 1st stage combustion fans and subsequent failure of the containment belt in that area. Tbh, all two of those things could be addressed in general overhauls (Super Tomcat-21's), but the third one has to do with the fact it wasn't designed to dogfight, it was designed primarily as an interceptor, but later morphed in to a "multi-role" fighter. However, the thing that primarily killed it was Dick Cheney's absolutely hatred of Grumman. There are F-14's still flying today, but ya'd have to be Iranian to see them. Hell, we may just get a chance to see them in a dogfight if "someone" manages to finagle his way back in to office...

I was there working the Airshow that day. It was sad to see the last demo. I got out in July of 06. I saw the last Tomcat leave Oceana in April of 2006. It was a sight to see. I was on Night-check. And was working in the Fuel-pits. And 11 F-14’s rolled past the pits and all the pilots waved goodbye. Everyone inside the hangers were outside waiting to see them take off. 10 of the 11 were airborne. The last one was flown by the CO of that squadron. I believe it was VF-101. All 10 were circling around then as he got airborne he went straight up and then met up with the rest of them and rode off into the sunset. I can still see it. And now my 8yr old son is so into the new Topgun movie. And he thinks he’s gonna fly one. It’s hard to explain t him that they are not around in the USA. They are no longer air worthy. The only air worthy F-14s are located in Iran according to a article I read online.

Such a pity the F14 has gone to the bone yard, fantastic aircraft. She was the best jet powered carrier borne aircraft ever built and I personally think that the United States Navy would have kept them if it was viable to achieve, obviously the Tomcat had reached its finite fatigue life and would have cost a fortune in upgrades and maintenance cost, and that’s assuming that the airframe was still viable to extend its life, its truly saddening to see such an iconic aircraft disappear from the sky. Thanks for sharing this excellent and entertaining video, much appreciated 😀👍🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Incredible aircraft. I think most likely the most beautful fighter plane ever built. We always respected the Tomcat. It did not bleed speed like the F16/F18 and F15 high low speed high Gs turns, so it could get its weapons on you real quick. That’s what the variable wings gave you. That adaptability at high low altitude engagements. With the NGAD, there will be mission parameters that are more aligned to the F111 and F14 over what we are running now.

I actually stopped what I was doing much to my teacher's dismay to watch them until they left my line of sight. I just simply said that "Sometimes a dream is just a dream, and I wanted to see that one one last time." She shook her head and let it go. I miss seeing these birds fly.

I saw both the Tomcat and Falcon. The F16 is like a knife, sharp and precise in its action while the F14 is like a hammer. Glad to have seen the Harrier, Tomcat, Lancer, F22, F18. There's two that I wish to see but will never get to, the Avro Vulcan and F4 Phantom

What a noise!!!! Absolutely glorious. And only in America doing a 30ft takeoff flyby. Spoke too soon, Oh Lordy that near supersonic pass is possibly the most awesome thing ever! Credit to the USA when it’s due.

Wish they would keep just one in service for airshows. Being that this plane has such a following and is loved by everyone.

I have been an aircraft sheet metal mechanic for over 45 years. I still work to this day and fabricate jet engine parts both for new engines and spare parts for existing aircraft engines. The Gurman F-14 Tomcat is my favorite plane of all time. Sad they retired them but the F-14 is still the prettiest girl of all time!!!

I saw demo up at Salinas airport 1990s cool got to hang out with the pilots for awhile it wasn't a big airshow smaller city airport. I didn't even know they were going up for a demo they had just come in from a ship off shore. They are so big for a fighter when they do a low airshow so big extremely loud. They went out 5-10 miles came back in high speed 500-600 knots pulled high G turn back over the city all you could hear for miles were car alarms going off horns honking and sirens going. Not sure if they broke any windows but it was great day watching them. I wish I had got some video of it back then just didn't think about wanting to record something want to watch 20 -30 years in the future.

I would love to have heard the conversation between the pilot and RIO during this flight. It might have been a whole lot of nothing, but it would have been cool to hear: "Damn I'm gonna miss this ol' girl" Or a "WHOO!" Here and there.

I would not doubt it was aged but it could probably still defeat 90% of what is out there and I am being cautious saying that number . This thing was a flat out beast. F14D was rediculous.

@YZach Problems you refer to are problems of the earlier F-14 variants, and they are related to its original engines - Pratt & Whitney TF30, they were ideal for high speeds but not for extreme combat maneuvers. These problems were solved with famous A+ upgrade and GE F110-GE-400 engines. These engines solved the reliability problems and provided nearly 30% more thrust, achieving better than a 1:1 thrust to weight ratio. The later B and D upgrade drastically increased the F-14's performance.
