This is the clearest tutorial on this I've seen. I was able to replace mine on my 2008 Civic pretty easily just now, and I'm not mechanical at all. Saved me a bunch of money! It seems a lot of people have this problem. Kind of a shame Honda won't recognize it and do a recall or something.

@swavebeatz

Ale9jandra I feel like the cover you pull back messes up the port because when you let go the cover is trying to close therefor pushing the aux cable up and bending the insides or somthing after awhile just snap of the cover when you replace it or it will happen again

Thanks for this awesome tutorial, my aux input was crapping out on me for the last year or so and it’s so nice to have it fully functional again. *ADVICE FOR PEOPLE WHO DO THIS* I strongly recommend removing the cover flap so that the aux input is exposed. Based on my experience, a BIG part of what makes it go bad is that there’s constant pressure applied to your aux cable by the flap.

Worked 100% marvelously. It took you 2 and a half minutes to explain it and do it in the video, so I figured it would take me 10. I think it took 7 or 8 minutes realistically. You made it look so easy, but in reality, it was pretty simple. I ended up paying about $30 for the part from the link you gave, but this saved probably an additional $100 in labor. Thanks for posting.

I was expecting to have to remove the dash to put in the entire new piece that I ordered off of Amazon but I did exactly what you showed (except I didn't have the cover on mine anymore since it pissed me off/got ripped off a while back) and it works perfect now. Replacing the input didn’t help solve my problem of the speakers cutting in and out only on aux. Any idea what else it could be? It’s not the cord and it’s not the speakers themselves. The cord works fine on another car and the speakers sound great on all radio modes.

Thank you so much for the video! The only thing was when I popped it out, the entire aux port came out not just the cover like in your video. So I might as well unplugged the old port and plugged in the new port and voila, the aux works again but with half the work that you did of removing the old and new parts and putting them together when you can just take out the old part as a whole and plug in the new part in its whole as well.

My 2009 LX Aux finally died this summer 2022 It started with fading 'aux' letters on the actual dash/player screen, eventually not turning on at all, only Radio and CD work. You made my old car fun again for my baby niece with her kiddie tunes. Thanks friend! PS. To any fellow klutz's out there like myself trying this. I ended up shattering the plastic housing during removal whilst Diycarmodz made it look effortless. My cover hinges broke off as well while pulling. If anyone else had this problem, don't worry, as long as you can still access the actual computer chip piece you're all set. It should still work. People in the comments mentioned the cover might actually be contributing to the problem by applying sideways pressure on things plugged in. So in the end i was going to leave if off anyway. If the car and I are still alive in another 13 years I'll let you know if that was the culprit!

Thanks for the video. It took me longer than expected to find the right spot to get the new aux component to go in. I finally got it in and it seems to be working in terms of the music playing from my phone. Unfortunately now I am getting a loud popping sound from my car speakers every time I plug my phone into it. Any suggestions on how to fix this as it did not do this with the original aux plug. Do you think a ground loop isolator would work? Thanks in advance.
