Heck of a diagnosis & fix. I truly like how clear you are in your explanation, it almost sounds scripted but that's not a bad thing. It shows you take time to be understood and that relay the info needed. Top notch! 👍

Thank you very much and yes i did take time putting it together to make sure its easy to follow and understand.

EXCEPT HE HAS NO CLUE HOW TO MAKE A PROPER SPLICE. WATCH 12 MINUTES INTO THE VIDEO. HE SIMPLY TWISTED THE WIRES TOGETHER AND MELTED A HEAT SHRINK SLEEVE OVER TWISTED WIRES!
@CubasAutomotive2 жыл бұрын
@@randalhubbard4932 in a normal current loaded or exterior connection, I'd agree, I would have soldered those before slipping the heat shrink over. However, there's no current load on these wires. You could have 1 strand of copper intact and it will not have issues in this application. Don't be so overly critical on the insignificant minutia. There's so much more to learn from this video.
@scothubbard53232 жыл бұрын
It's very sad knowing that you perceive that as being an adequate repair for any circuit.. I've been professionally turning wrenches for over 25 years. I have my Ford Senior Master certification. I've seen every type of sloppy , shade tree work imaginable. This is near the top on wiring since it's from a claimed professional level tech. This is almost the same as twisting them up and slapping a piece of black electrical tape over it.. You should have used some wire nuts like used on home AC VOLTAGE WIRING CONNECTIONS.

I have an 04 3.5 maxima. I started to notice a bit of a power slip while on the highway. I knew I needed a tune up. Sooooo I got my buddy's computer (Snap on model)...did a diagnostic. #1 cylinder was a misfire. I removed the plenum and the throttle body "tunnel". Not so much of a bad job...Need a bit of patience. I took off the 1,3, and 5 coils. #3 had oil in the well, I cleaned a it up. Took out all of the plugs on that bank (closest to the firewall) replaced the plugs. NGK's. Then I took the #1 coil and put it in the #2 cylinder. (I changed all the plugs by the way). Long story short. I put everything back together. Except the engine cover. Started the car up? It ran nice. Idled Steady like a rock. Did the diagnostic and back onto the highway...ran the car good. 60 thru 85 MPH. And back down again. Ran like a raped ape. I must have blown the excess crap out of the exhaust system. Because my exhaust pipes were quite clean. Instead of having the soot that i got used to seeing. So in short? The plugs were changed out, the suspected bad coil position was changed (Nothing wrong with the coil). And the car is running fine. Good Idle and lots of power. The one lesson that I learned? Was to keep the car tuned!!!! Don't get lazy and think that bad boy is gonna run good if you're not on top of it. I do most of my mechanics. And I save mucho bucs. "Cause I'm cheap! Have a nice day all. By the way as far as that oil leak? I noticed #3 isn't leaking. So me thinks whoever put plugs in prior? Didn't tighten # 3 plug in. Or the valve cover at that point wasn't tightened down sufficiently. Either way after some investigating I found out that the valve covers for the 3.5's have their own grommets already inside the covers. I ordered one for the culprit side. And will replace it. But right now as I mentioned earlier? It's not leaking. And the exhaust is clean. Hope my experience helps somebody out if they have a prob like I did.

Can I download your brain? Lol, I'm following this, but it's a lot to jump right into. I've got some computer science background, which is maybe helpful, but spark chasing is SO tedious. Kudos to you for being so thorough and systematic through this, this is helping tons in becoming a better diagnostician...hopefully I can get my 05 Nissan Altima project car going soon 👍 👍

Hey I seem to be struggling with this same exact issue! I’m wondering if you figured out what was wrong?
@allbrant3 жыл бұрын
@@ashleyboys5212 I found out that the ground wire that goes to the ECM Relay (White with Black) wasn't switching to ground. It goes from the IPDM (Fuse Box) to the ECM (Computer) under the glove box. I used a jumper wire from pin 30 to 87 in the ECM relay slots on the IPDM and the car started and ran great. The White and black wire connects to the ECM (computer) and is supposed to switch from on (power) to off (ground) when running but wasn't.

I drove to work in the weekend to do my morning rounds. I left the wife’s 2006 Nissan Altima running, came out to the car and drove a few blocks to the hardware store. I just started going up the hill and the car just straight up died. It cranks but no start. As I am typing this I realize I may have been low on fuel.

i think the PCM was like 8 or 900 dollars plus 3 hours labor. Didnt charge them for the misfire diag, coil replacement and getting rid of their backing plate noise that i would have been blamed for even though i never took a wheels off.
