Thanks. This video definitely helped me with my own erratic oil pressure light. When I pulled the wiring harness off of the sensor, I found the connection socket full of oil and when I removed the sensor, the stem seemed to be slightly bent/damaged. I am assuming this happened at my last oil change (doing it myself from now on) when the guy changing the oil filter must have strapped on an oil filter wrench and rammed the handle right into the sensor. I put a new sensor in and so far, so good. No more oil light.

Ive been having a hard time ordering the oil pressure sensor any idea where I can get it. Autozone has the new version.

My oil pressure registering issues began with a remanufactured engine. (2001 Durango 4 7 with 2 pin sending unit) Once the engine gets to operating temperature, the gauge begins dropping. However a mechanical gauge shows 75 to 80 psi at startup and it goes to 100psi when given more gas and works as designed so my 20 year old gauge cluster is possibly crappy 🤔 just a weird issue that leads to uncertainty with new engine

Ever have one of these when it was actually low oil pressure, if so what did u find to be the cause?

Never had one, if you have low pressure and you checked it with a gauge. I would drain the oil and look for metal or put some on a paper towel and microwave it for a few seconds and look for sparks. If there is no signs of damage I would drop the pan and look for metal or debris in the pickup tube. If you don't find any then I would try an OEM oil pump. It's always a gamble with low oil pressure because a bearing could be damaged or something else. You can also measure the clearances in the oil pump. I've had a few cars where the oil pump relief valve was stuck open from debris or a burr and caused low oil pressure. You could just have worn bearings or bores causing low oil pressure.
