Bought a 1999 e350 83k miles old inmate transport to live in, to escape this halfway house and west Phoenix hood. Maybe I'll go manual on my fan too. Great advice thank you!!!!

This was in my KZfaq feed today and I totally enjoyed what you did with the van. I know it’s been sold, but I learned so much to build my van once I am able to get one. What I first noticed was your microphone setup. I have the same wired-earphone get-up. So was it just for show, or does it actually work as a microphone?

Earphones were just for show but the celery and tape measure itself records great audio

Sweet build, I really like that layout. What size tire are you running? And its stock height?
@boesigergentry
@boesigergentry Жыл бұрын
I appreciate it. Ya I don’t have it any more so I can’t double check but if I remember correctly I’m pretty sure they were 265/70/17. Stock height but it did have the tow package so there was an add-a-leaf on the back.

Great job, I have a fibreglass roof, which adhesive did you use to put head liner on? Also what is the headliner fabric it looks nice?
@boesigergentry
@boesigergentry 2 ай бұрын
The old trusty super 77 spray. Can’t go wrong. For the fabric I just went to a fabric store and browsed my options

That’s a functional buildout! One question: how did you attach the wood ‘shelf’ around the lip of the high top/old roof?
@boesigergentry
@boesigergentry 10 ай бұрын
When cutting the original roof off I left a small overhang which I then was able to sandwich a shelf on there and it was surprisingly sturdy

May I ask, did you buy the shelf somewhere? If so, where? I have same setup in which I am trying to sandwich some shelving on top of the lip

Nice trim on the Ceder siding. Who did that? Appa will be missed, but I'm happy Appa has found a new forever home.

Do you mind if I ask how tall the fiberglass high top is? I am 6'2 and trying to imagine how tall the topper would need to be to allow me to stand. Sounds like you're in a similar position. Thanks!
@boesigergentry
@boesigergentry 6 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I don’t have a measurement on the top itself since I found it at a scrap yard and shaped it myself which took away from the height. That being said I’m 6’3” and if I was 6’2” I could stand up perfectly

How did you put up the boards to the fiberglass roof/top?
@boesigergentry
@boesigergentry 2 ай бұрын
I can’t remember right of exactly but if I was to throw one out there it was probably a tight bond marine adhesive that comes in the caulk gun set up.

Do you run the a/c all night in hot climates?
@boesigergentry
@boesigergentry Жыл бұрын
There is no a/c other than the one in the cab. We do usually run the maxxair fan mostly all the time when it’s hot and we are usually good for bed up until like 95f during the day

You just added more weight , more gas sucking , harder 2 Park in cities like LA with signs saying no parking over 7 ft. can't park where cars park like low level parking garages ! Forget free parking in big cities etc. But you have a little more room in van . But Less versatility!

I love vanlife but this is one of the ugliest van builds I’ve seen. I didn’t even know I was picky until I saw this one. Colors are horrible and who would cook on the edge of the driver’s seat? Is that really where you want your fire?

I shopped around for econoline window covers and Vanmade Gear was the most cost friendly. They are EXCELLENT covers: warm in winter, cool in summer, and nice looking to boot. And the company was A++ to deal with (I ordered the wrong ones and they contacted me to ask if I'd gotten it right - I hadn't).
