Picked up a 2006 Yamaha Royalstar Tour Deluxe and wanted to do a quick bike review. These are a great local cruiser or a touring bike. Bike has a V4 1300cc engine, 5 speed, shaft drive, liquid cooled, electronic cruise control, lower fairings, dual exhaust, and large locking saddle bags. The top part of the touring bag ended up getting lost, so we just have the bottom half which works great anyway. Don't remember what highway pegs are on there.

Hello, I'm BG Rides (aka Hollywood) because I like to make these KZfaq movies :) I love to ride bikes around the country and everywhere in between. Traveling on a bike is such an incredible feeling. A group of us go on our annual 10 day bike trip each year. We love to ride, but really enjoy the journey and the friendships on the road. If you're thinking about getting into motorcycle riding, just do it, get the bike, don’t wait. No one's getting any younger and you're going to have a blast! It's all about the journey, the friendships, and the discovery! Get out there and see the country and I'll see you on the next ride :)

I have a 2005 RSTD. It's a great bike. A couple comments. I think the hand guards and the outside temp gauge and clock on the handlebars are aftermarket. The fuel gauge doesn't count down for miles left. It counts up to let you know how far you've gone since the low fuel indicator tripped. I usually get nine or so miles before I need to switch to reserve. I haven't tested how far I can go after that. The turn signal is self cancelling. It's based on speed and distance. All in all it's a great bike, I've put about 25k miles on it in three years including some long hauls from the Portland, OR to the Rockies and beyond. It's also my daily commuter rain or shine, I just don't ride it in ice or snow. Super comfortable bike for riding around town, a cruise to the beach or strapping on luggage for a multi day camping trip. I only notice the extra luggage weight at slow speeds when things feel a bit top heavy. My mods are LED headlights, driving lights, turn signals, and tail/brakelight. I also added heated grips, Barnett clutches/springs, and Kuryakyn Long Horn foot pegs. That's pretty much it. I'm considering an after market seat but it's not a huge need. Oh, and when it came time to replace the front tire I went with a smaller size. Much better handling in parking lots.

I have a 2006 RSTD, I consistently get 200 miles a tank full. My bike will run 100 Miles an Hr no problem. But your are right it cruises 85, 90 an hr. I have the white bike. I love my bike. Got my bike about 5 years ago with 35, 000 on it, got it for $3000. You have a very pretty bike.

I pretty much have the same bike only difference is it has a trunk and a fairing and stereo system it’s the Royal star venture it has a 6 gallon Gas tank If you cruise back roads 45/55 miles an hour all day I average 50 miles per gallon 200 to 225 miles before hitting reserve with a passenger ! Great bike !

The Royal star venture is a great bike. Having the larger tank and trunk makes it a perfect touring bike.

I purchased a 2005 used one and got that not nice waggling effect, now thanks to you, I now know I should not be pushing it beyond 75, 80 miles per hour. I checked out the forks and center shock absorber for any leakage as well as the tires for damage issues, but all looked ok. Thanks guys, be well.

Hi Miguel, Yeah. Good thinking, you checked all the right stuff. We've had three other RSTD roughly the same year and they all did the same thing. There still a great bike to ride and very comfortable to. Thanks for watchin!

I'll add a few comments too I guess. First, you don't "need" that aftermarket clock. Push and hold the reset button under the fuel gage and you have a digital clock. Mostly though, it's not what I'd call a "beginner's" touring bike. It is pretty damned top heavy, compared to say a Vulcan or pretty much any V twin, and it is so very capable of hard core, long distance, 2 up, trailer pulling, road killing touring. Not as much storage as, say, a GoldWing, but WAY more comfortable and WAY better looking. That thing will never go out of style. It's a true forever bike and yours is a real beauty.

Hi darrylwbraun, Great comment. We've had 5 of these over the years. Great bikes for sure. One of the most comfortable! Wish the gas mileage was a little better but a good reason to get off the bike and stretch!

@@bgrides2108 I agree completely. I tested mine (03 RSV) quite by accident, didn't realize I already had it in reserve, and I drove almost exactly 350 km (215 miles) before the last bar disappeared. So, first, it's the first bike I've ever owned that I could do that in one sitting without being in pain. Second, it's a pretty good range, BUT I was solo, no trailer and driving about 65-70 mph. Throw the wife on and hitch up the trailer and, yeah, it significantly cuts down the range. I'm toying with the idea of buying a used tank, cutting it down the center and making it wider to add another gallon or two.

Flip that luggage around and you could lean against it as you ride. Bike is a small displacement but is smooth. As for 2 up i dont know doubtful, probably lug it down. The strongest bike out there is a goldwing, at 1800cc 6cyl,flat opposing cylinders smooth as silk. But this aint bad. Of course harley has no answer to this. But Harley is what harley is. Ive got a harley its ok, ive had a goldwing its great,too much plastic. Suzuki 1500 its good 90mph thats it. Low geared.kawasaki too cheap feeling.the honda 1300 vtx is a great as well as the 1800 vtx. The yamaha star line up, all great bikes.

I love the Royal Star bike line and have been wanting to pick one up for a while. Can anyone comment on parts availability? I know obtaining parts is slower these days with all the supply chain issues, I’m not worried about that - I’m more concerned about parts being discontinued / completely not available due to the age of the bike.

Hello MtnmanMtnman, We've had at least 4 of these over the last 5 years or so. So far we haven't had any issue getting parts. It might get a little hard to get something like a windshield or something like that. We did a clutch replacement two years back and it was easy getting parts...

Ha! Funny we have the exact opposite opinion. I gave up my GW and got on an RSV and I'd say the same thing... "blows away the Honda". Mind you, I had an 85 GW but the sitting position on the Honda was just horrible compared to the RSV. For brute power though, yeah, the newer GWs are going to walk all over the RS.
@opichocal
@opichocal 10 ай бұрын
@@darrylwbraun I still have my Yamaha and it’s a good bike. Funny thing is the more I ride the Goldwing the more I love it. Comparing my royal star to the Goldwing is like comparing manatees to a bottlenose dolphin. 😁👍
@bgrides2108
@bgrides2108 10 ай бұрын
Your right. The RSTD riding position is very comfortable. The couple things I'd give the GW is the stereo system and the higher top end speeds. Seems like the GW can cruise at 100mph all day. The RSTD is great at 80 all day.
