Excellent work on showing the printed instructions on the throttle body reset. That is what is needed for those who do not have a scan tool. Shows the DIYer that this can be done safely and correctly IF YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. DGBryan

Run at least two cans of carburetor cleaner through that intake, and then put a damn catch can on that engine. Those things should have at least a catch can , that or remove the that the PCV system works so it doesn't run through that intake and oil foul everything around it. I have built a few of these engines and found that General Motors Loves.030 gaps on these piston rings. That is ridiculously large. It sounds like they're getting a kickback from the oil companies to keep these things drinking oil. But at least with a catch can you can put a good portion of that oil back into your crankcase.

You don’t need to disconnect the battery? Does your type of scanner allow you to disable the active fuel management (afm)?

No you do not need to disconnect the battery. It’s stupid that GM didn’t give users the option to turn off AFM. You’ll need to find a way to trick the ECU

Use a Range, it plugs into the data port under the dash. It will keep the engine in V8 mode at all times.

Can removing the air intake cause a need to relearn the throttle body sensor? Recently had to remove all of it to replace the lifters. 2013 Avalanche is idling like the engine will fall out and the only code is p0300. Replaced MAF, Spark plugs and wires, about to check the o2 sensor but i feel like im just nickel and diming myself to death.

Also runs fine for about 30 seconds. I think it is the computer.

Doing lifters is a big job. Who knows what could be causing your problem. Did you remove the battery before tackling the job? Sometimes when throttle bodies are disconnected they need to be relearned give a shot and see what happens

good vid, but of all the 30 billion brands you could have picked to use for the replacement, you went with quite possibly the WORST brand for electrical components. take the advice of someone who used to work at autozone, and dealt with their Duralast electrical components, and stay far away from duralast for electrical stuff. they're JUNK. i had to warranty out duralast electrical components at least 3 or 4 times a day when i worked at autozone. and most of the parts were only a couple months old. i strongly recommend going with either standard ignition, delphi, or acdelco.

Im seeing that one for $169. The more advanced "scanners" that can reset ECMs etc have come down in price quite a bit. I'm.seeing a few in the sub $150 range. I'm thinking Iay purchase one it would pay for itself in a couple uses. I work on cars a lot.
