I will update on the Minnie Winnie roof shortly!
Today I was back at Premium Coach Group in Gilbert, AZ looking at a 2007 Country Coach Affinity that just arrived.
I do not think I have a fiberglass Country Coach roof inspection and this was a good representation of the era. This is a gel-coat fiberglass roof that has been built and maintained well.
Though it was coated, these roofs do not need a coating. Dicor lap sealant is all that is needed on the roof and 100% silicone on the sidewalls.

I heard somewhere that the rear tag wheels faced like the front were a stronger axle. Gvw wise.

The steerable tags, whether active or passive, have the tag wheels inverted Our Wanderlodge does not have a steerable tag. The tag wheels are mounted the same as the drive wheels. On a few of the LX's prior to the 450's they did have steerable tags and this is how you can identify those units. Steerable tags, whether active or passive, have had reliability issues. IMHO the tags look better matching the drives but that is just my opinion. Thanks for the video's James. Very informative.

I haven't seen a steerable tag axle on a coach before - I will have to start looking. I believe that the tag axle configured as an "innie" vs an "outie" is no different than our belly buttons - it doesn't function any differently one vs another, but some people prefer the appearance of one over the other. The "innie" makes it look like dual drive axles (when I was a kid I thought that they were). Blue Bird seems to like the innies, but I now prefer the outies.

@@AZExpert No doubt. Actually WL went under in 05 and was bought out by a California conglomerate. They moved the whole plant to the West coast. Then to keep the money flowing they had to prove they could produce units. That’s why from 06 to 09 they got so big and super luxurious and expensive. It was on the edge when the recession hit. I’ve talked bout the last 3 09s. Two finished and one 1/3 built. One of the 09s just popped up again recently in Texas. Shady deal too. Bus sat for the last 3-4 years and by all reports needs 20K of work to be ready to go. They asked 200K+. Last year the other 09 went ready and well taken care of for 180k. So did a 08 (one of 5, I think) for 150K.

Do you have any suggestions on hot to remove the adhesive with out ruining the paint. I know it hare do say without looking at the RV. Appreciate any advice you have to offer. Thank You

If you watch Andrew and Brian's videos, you'd believe that country coach was the best thing ever made. Well the ones they always show, have been stored indoors and/or are still the original owners. However, if you watch other country coach videos on KZfaq, you see a lot of body/slide sagging issues etc. fiberglass cracking and whatnot. The reality is, as with anything else, it depends on the life that it seen. Even a Sherman tank will surprise, if neglected, or mistreated. But it's laughable when Brian talks as if a CC is on par with a Prevost conversion.

I recently purchased a 2003 Holiday Rambler with an aluminum roof at a very good price. The roof has what appears to be the original metallic backed tar tape on the center seam that is in need of repair. The roof also is very weathered and I would like to clean and coat it. What would you recommend? I’m very concerned about my RV roof after losing 90% of my fiberglass roof off my 2000 Itasca in a windstorm on I 40 while being passed by very fast moving semi. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
@AZExpert
@AZExpert 3 жыл бұрын
the metal roofs on Holiday Ramblers are very durable and can be painted or coated with nearly any product. The tape is usually black tar based and miserable to change, but can be sourced at the roof section of most home depots. Sorry about your other roof.

@@AZExpert thanks for the reassurance and rapid response. Another question if you don’t mind. Should I replace the tape and repair any sealant cracks before painting the roof and would you use elastomeric, latex rubber, or silicon coating or...? Thanks in advance.

Older solar panels need to have the diodes changed. That heavy shadow you showed can burn up a system if the diodes are bad. They take a beating.

You know during my younger years I have often seen people who had lawn chairs on their RV rooftops. I would say that's exceptionally scary considering the flimsy ways a lot of these roofs are made. I understand the thinking that the roofs should be made as sturdy as a house's is but that's not what I've seen.

these roofs are very strong, I still do not recommend them as patios for safety and longevity. THanks!
