2007 Freightliner FS65

This is a video of a 2007 Thomas Freightliner FS65. The one threw me a curveball as it had hydraulic brakes, but air suspension and an air parking brake. I’ve personally never been in one of these before, but it was actually nice. This one has the Mercedes Benz MBE900 engine, of course! Enjoy and remember to like and subscribe.

Imagine a brand new take on the F’s 65 with the C2 hood and the HDX body and a sleek single piece windshield design and no extra windows in front of the entry doors just like the older fs 65. :)

I used to ride a freight liner, it was a good bus, it had the old engine rebuild twice until we got the ICCE

The last of our FS-65’s are retiring next week. Never drove one but it was always a good looking bus to me.

Nice looking Bus! My School District here in Tennessee has bought several 2007 Thomas FS-65's. I have some of them on my channel. Sadly I can not start any of them up though.

I remember one time that I had a Thomas FS-65. That was when I was a young kid when I was starting my first years of school in Nevada.

In kindergarten 2015/2016 i rode a 2008 thomas fs 66 i sat at the back and the grade sixers would say -gives cookie- then i would move🤣

Noice. We have a few of these buses. Two of them I rode to school were a sub bus. Bus 42 and I think the other is 73 .

Those brakes are called air assisted brakes it’s hydraulic brakes over air it’s used air pressure lines to convert into hydraulic pressure

DD8 for the HDX, and DD5 for the C2. I’ve driven a DD5 C2 for a bus rodeo last year, and it was…interesting.

We do not. Just the MBE900s.

And of course, I had a couple of Thomas C2s, the first one was a 2007. Then I had a 2016 Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2. The engine in the 1st one was a Mercedes-Benz MBE engine. I wasn't sure what kind of MBE engine it was. I could be thinking that it was a MBE924 Engine

So it depends on dealer specs as well as district requirements when it comes to A/C. Like in Maryland, they require A/C in schools buses now, especially if they are being used for trips and such.

How good are these Mercedes engines?

I personally think they’re good. They might start to drink some oil as they get older, but I think the engine will outlast the actual bus itself.

Oh yes! And honestly they’re so good! They will definitely outlast the bus itself. The worst issue I’ve had with them is some of them really like to drink oil, but otherwise they’re strong.

If they have a Mercedes-Benz Powered badge on the hood by the door, that would be the MBE900. Otherwise it could have the CAT C7 or even an older Cummins.

Sometimes these fs65 with the Mercedes engine can be stubborn at starting.

You are correct. They can be at times if they’ve been sitting for quite a while. Although, there are some that I can get in that have been sitting for months and they start right up.
