4 жыл бұрынThe is a video on 2007 Jeep Wrangler JKU Harmonic Balancer/Crankshaft Pulley Install. The engine is a 3.8 liter. I noticed that we had an oil leak in the bottom end of the jeep. We found out that the seal was worn out around the harmonic balancer. Getting the harmonic balancer off is not that hard of a job but I didn't realize the pulley tool I purchased wasn't strong enough and we ended up breaking the harmonic balancer and we had to buy a new one. So......have the right tool to take it off and the job is easy. There is no timing line to worry about as well. We had to heat up the new harmonic balancer to install it. I believe that bolt has a torque spec of 40f/pound. This part is very important because just like in this video, I used my impact gun to drive the pulley back in, then broke the bolt deep inside the bolt housing. Now initially a half hour and a can of beer job turned into a nightmare. I gotta drill the broken bolt n try to remove it. Not much of a room to work and the temperature is -23 Celsius here. 🤞

Check out the rest of the videos on the channel. We ended up blowing a head gasket. Decided to replace the engine.....Well because.....Well its a Jeep thing!!.......Check your 07 timing chain. We open up the timing cover and well you can see on the video. NOT GOOD. Let me know what you think. Got the new engine a couple of days ago and its going ok. were you going to replace the pulley along with the crankshaft seal from the beginning or was the pulley only replaced because of the "oh shit" moment? mine has a tiny bit of wobble in it not sure if i should replace both

A oh shit moment we didnt know what to do at first and pulled from the wrong position and corrected ourself i think i said it in the video to grab from the correct area in order to not mess it up for anyone else watching and trying themselves. So ya we ended up replacing it as well as the seal.

How did you hold the pulley from turning while trying to get the bolt to the additional 105° after setting the torque value?

How did you get the old gasket off you didn’t show that part in the video did it just slide out easy?

So got it swapped up, discovered a smaller puller won't work, had to rent a Chrysler specific one to fit it. What did you have for torque specs. The sheet the harmonic came with doesnt list one. But online I've only found 1 place listing 40lbs.

It's a harmonic balancer not a pulley. They make a special tool called a harmonic balancer puller and they have an installer also.

It’s just the crank shaft pulley gasket. It should come with the pulley. Let me know if that helps.

@@Lagniappe. I had to use a socket the same size as the gasket to get it in place. Just a heads up. Take your time.
