The kids are growing up, and their little red wagon has too. Now that we Millennial are starting families,* we're looking for more "grown-up" vehicles. Enter Volvo, the brand known for safety, that made mostly boring and sensible vehicles for the masses, and a few fun options for the enthusiasts, like this 2007 XC90 V8 Sport in Passion Red. Its got Sport, its got Utility, its got Vehicle. All the boxes are ticked! 😂
📺 More videos on the journey and test drives of other XC90s, Land Rovers and even a few Subarus before finding this one:

The red looks SO good - especially with the V8. I went the dad route two years ago and bought a 2016 Volvo V60 CC. I miss my boxes ... but I like how comfortable the V60 is. Welcome to 30.

It is hard to capture how good that V8 sounds with a camera! I got a 2006 V8 and the sound is what sold me on the V8. I just love how it growls when it gets above 3k, then on the highway drops down and purrrs like a kitten.

Very interesting. One other thing to watch. Be sure you lubricate the spare tire mechanism regularly. The last thing you need when you get a flat is to find everything seized solid. The transmission cooler is always a good idea. My 90 240 had the biggest B&M cooler installed on the day after Ma took delivery. 400,000 miles later, the transmission still works like new.

So glad to see your beautiful XC90. I’ve spent over a year to find mine, though I wanted the dual exhaust quad tips. I have the 09 XC90 V8 R-Design with 68,000 miles that I picked up out of Vegas. Thank god no rust. My wife liked it so much that she wanted one for herself. Found the exact same one here south of Chicago with 77,000 miles but she has the Calcite white interior. She loves it. Her B-pillar was torn up and picked up one from the dealer for $178. She also has the Dynaudio system which sounds amazing compared to mine. In the year I’ve own mine, I’ve just had to replace the bearings on the idler pulleys which I did myself. I just bought the bearings from Napa and pulled out the old ones with a puller. They have been great to own in the couple years so far. I also will need new tires and brakes in the near future. Good luck with yours and hope to see more video to come. Thanks for sharing.

Is the Dynaudio really that much better? I suspect my head unit, amp or speakers for why mine sounds so lackluster
@csebastian71

David Bello It is so much better. Her 12 speakers compared to my 8 sounds amazing. There is a FB group called Legend XC90 Car Audio you must check out. This guy did a complete 10in touchscreen setup that is fully plug and play and looks OEM. He just started shipping them out and the feedback so far is impressive.

David Bello Dynaudio is the premium sound at the time. I believe it also has a Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound that you can adjust in the audio settings menu along with the equalizer. Boy it sounded like live performance from the driver position.

Dear @@livinginnewhampshire8231 👍👌👏 Yeah, green is absolutely great (at least for my personal kind of taste).. It was a good decision to buy a green car. And not only because red often does fade away in the UV sunlight. And yes, red car in the woods will fear the bear! Uhm... no, I mean that red is usually a warning colour and that all animals fear it (maybe excluding fighting bulls). 😁 Have fun with your great green car. Best regards, luck and health.

I have the S80 V8, and this has legitimately been the most reliable, and clean running engine I've ever owned. I've only owned it about 8 months, but one oil change shown that it was completely clear and still golden in color. Smooth power, incredible sound, comfortable ride. I wish Volvo stuck with making more V8's, or at least given the V8 models their own R variation with more power as a proper send off.

What are the chances that I'm missing those two bolts in the trunk as well - kind of either side of the battery behind the 3rd row seats in the stowed position. Mine's a 2010 V8. Maybe there aren't bolts that go in there... I actually asked at the Volvo dealer but haven't gotten a reply.

I just posted this on your previous "hunt for a larger car" video: You guys (in the US) don't have Volvo's famous D5 engine. I have two XC70's - one is a 2005 auto (5 speed) with the Euro 3 engine (202K miles) - 189K when I bought it two years ago) and has the Nivomat shocks. Regularly gets me 45+ US mpg over the road. Been flawless over the two years - just oil changes and partial transmission dumps every 5K miles. Looks like new inside and out. The other one I bought 3 months ago. It is a 2008 D5 Lux auto 6 speed and active 4C suspension with the Euro 4 engine (158K) and has Volvo's Polestar installed. Goes like stink but mileage suffers - about 40 US mpg (probably also because it's FUN to drive!). Both have the semi automatic Geartronic transmission. The Diesel D5 engine is the best of two worlds - lasts forever and gets great fuel mileage. You comment "it's a Volvo - it's got problems".. My Older XC 70 is a 2005 and is flawless inside and out - and has BEEN flawless in the two years and 13K miles in UK and EU...:) The only things I do to my (dirt-cheap) Volvos (7 in 10 years) is changing oil and transmission dumps and new tires (usually). Oh Yeah - I did a rear brake job on the 2005..:) I think you'll love your XC90..:)

Nice video('s). I used to have a rare passion red 07 S60R which was terribly unreliable and eventually died with a cracked cilinder. Now with 3 kids already also bought a 07 XC90, preferred the V8, like my parents also had in their S80, but I went with the 2,5t. In everything just a bit less expensive. My project car is a 740 2.0 turbo and my brother his project car is a 164, like you have haha. Good luck and enjoy your cars! Greetings from the Netherlands.

My S60R kept showing a misfire on cylinder 3 and I was very concerned the block was going to crack in the same way yours did, so I sold it. This V8 has needed nothing since some minor repairs in my following videos. That’s really cool that you and your brother have project Volvos

@@DavidBello Thanks, yeah you did good on selling the S60 haha. I had 12,500 euro in repair bills over 4,5 years and eventually cracked (with only 140.000 km!!!), which set me back another 10k. So it was a real love hate story. Funny though that you can see the cars being affected by the sun where you live. Like the sunroof. I have had several without any problems, it is only an issue with older cars like the 740 where the rubber gone bad. Great that the XC is holding on well, here as well, only the gas springs of the trunk and some cosmetic upgrades.

Does the swap retain the angle gear/AWD? There are 6 Communist state-owned companies : BAIC - SAIC - GAIC - Changan - FAW and Dongfeng. But there are also 3 Privatized car companies that were founded in the last 30 decades : Great Wall - BYD - and Geely. The 3 that are free from the state ownership are the 3 that have developed the most. Stop arguing with your « Volvo funds dictatorships ! » lines. Geely. Is. Private. It is like VAG, it is like JLR, it is like PSA, it is like FCA. They are a private car group like there are lots of them. You’re just pissed off by the idea of something funded by Chinese money being any good; searching a scapegoat to hate on Volvo. Grow up. Your phone, laptop, dishwasher, TV, is made in China. Is it good ? Yes. Volvo has never been in greater shape than before. They sold well, they can finally go all out on their cars like they did when Volvo was owned mostly by Volvo AB. The design, the engines, the quality, the engineering, has never been better.
