This is a time laps of what you can expect to do to replace the evaporator or heater core in your 2008-2011 Focus.

I had mine replaced a few years ago. Ford made a bunch of bad evaporators, there was a class action lawsuit that they won some how... The problem was just like the Xbox 360, they used a lead free solder and the solder points broke down over time. I was lucky that I found a place that fixed it for $690. I dropped it off on a Monday morning and got it back Tuesday evening. It has been working ever since..

Neat video! I ordered my parts 15 minutes and I'm changing my evaporator this Saturday. I hear it takes 12 hours for the first time to learn how to do it, but I hope it goes smooth like your video!

Nava Jo I think I put the link in for the detail how to. If you skim through that you will be good. It took me right at 6 hours including 2 parts store runs. I would say plan on 8 might go faster or slower.

@@Foxbodys4life Finished about 2 hours ago. Took 20 hours and my AC compressor isn't turning on and no air coming from the dash vents. I'm only getting air at the feet... Looks like I'm troubleshooting this weekend. Good news though, it was a great learning experience and I appreciate the video to the tutorial/guide that you posted.

Nava Jo you will have to have a shop pull a vacuum on the system then recharge it. The compressor won’t kick on with an empty system. The air only blowing out the feet might just be a missed plug.

Foxbodys4life I've pulled the air and let it pull for at least an hour. I'll try to charge it tomorrow and see what happens. I'm thinking before I do that I'll check for a missed plug.

Is there a hidden bolt for these dashboards? Pulled the 6 in the door openings, the 6 that mount on the floor, and the one up top. Fucker is still stuck in there rock solid. What am i missing?

Did you remove the steering wheel bolt at the firewall? I have a link to a video that someone else did that was way more in depth in the description. The dash removal is towards the end.

@@joshkunkel1 I haven’t found anything on the internet showing directions. I put a like to the video that is very in depth in the description. It’s actually not that bad if you know your way around cars. It just seems bad looking at it.

Does jt leaks to the right side if leaks?

You won’t see the Freon leak unless there is die in the system and you have a uv light.

You seem to have a great understanding of this!! So I have an 08 Ford Focus se.. (Disclaimer before I purchased the vehicle it was in Nevada, I already had an entire brake replacement because the parts simply were rusted until they couldn’t move) Okay so my mechanic checked my a/c compressor and noticed it was a complete fail, it didn’t function.. I bought a new compressor and he put it on but after trying to Freon my unit , he noticed it wasn’t holding a charge what so ever.. he told me I have a leak.. when I cut the a/c in in the car, there’s pressure and air coming from vents as if the a/c is actually working but it just feels regular.. the air is definitely NOT COLD What would cause these issues? Should I replace the o-rings, condenser and evaporator altogether or what?

They make die that can be put into the system. When it’s hit with a UV light it glows. If there isn’t any showing under the hood then it will be the same part I replaced. The only way to know is to have the system charged with the die and look for the leak.

Awww damn well I’m praying it’s under the hood lol.. so for example if it’s under the hood, I will be replacing parts like condenser/clutch switch, expansion valves and maybe o-rings or a radiator fan ??.. if so I’d rather pay that price all day.. they charge up the ass for evaporator work 😩😩💀💀

@@Foxbodys4life oh one more question.. before I took the car to the mechanic my stepdad recharged the A/c with freon (before we knew there was an issue). I noticed the line/pipe he connected the freon can to had this like green colored residue sitting in it at the top.. sorry this is my first car and I don’t know terminology so I apologize if I’m confusing u but would u happen to know what that is?? Thanks so much for your help

@@jailyndejia667 it could be something simple like an o ring or line to/from the compressor. If you saw green in the charging port than most likely it’s the oring in the charging valve port.

The worst ones are on the top of the dash at the base of the windshield, everything else isn’t bad. May have to get in some weird positions though. The actual hvac box is held in with nuts you remove from the engine bats side of the fire wall after the dash is out.

Unfortunately the video I used was taken down. Had I know that would happen I probably would have been more detailed. Being 2 hours that one should show everything you need to know. Thanks.
