2008 Ford Focus heater hose (alternative fix)

The front heater hose on this focus is plastic from the factory. The new hose is now metal which is better than the plastic, however the installation can be very problematic the way its routed. this video will show an alternate way to repair using rubber heater hose.

I think that those hoses, and all in the car in general, can be changed for common high-temperature resistant rubber hoses. They usually sell them in hardware stores in sections. Rigid plastic tubes tend to become brittle with high temperatures and break as in your case.

Was changing my ford focus thermostat and that little hose broke on me, i literally could not figure out what the hose was thank you!

I did this only to find more leaks down the hose. Removing the pipe is a huge hassle as you know. I eventually just replaced the plastic hose with the aluminum hose and it will never leak again. It’s just to much effort to get it out to repair and get back in only for it to get snipped somewhere else. In a pinch it’s a solution but long term you just have to replace it with the aluminum hose. $147 from ford.

Ha! Just had this issue today. The plastic pipe broke at the first bend from the water pump. And three months ago, the radiator hose broke in the exact same place as yours!!! They want $100 for the replacement. I managed to get the hose off of the pump side, then looked around for some tubing, and found a copper pipe in my garage and cut a 2 inch piece, cut the plastic pipe at the break, and shoved a 2 inch piece of copper pipe into each end of the plastic pipe and clamped it. Holding great. Probably going to buy one soon, I'm not sure how long it will last. Thanks for the info!

@tomgill9467 i did the exact same repair you did on the left side facing the car at the bend where his broke. its holding up fine. The only reason i'm here is because i'm thinking about fixing it the right way but after watching this I will probably just buy the metal hose and if this repair breaks pay someone else to do it. I'm handy but i'm not going to risk breaking 2 other things trying to fix a pin hole again but I respect it. If I can't find anyone that wants to work at least this video showed me I could do it if it came to that. I don't plan on driving this car out of town anymore but if I did I would want it fixed not jimmy rigged :)

that is EXACTALLY where mine is leaking..... same VALLEY of the bendy joint there even!!! sigh.... it was spittin rad fluid up onto the FAN ... and when locating it earlyer this evening, the FAN DID NOT KICK ON ... I hope it didn't fry the fan sigh.... the fan should have kicked on before the temp guage got half way up, right??? it didn't get hotter and the leak started peeeing when it got upto THAT hot... \ eh... unpausing to see what the ALTERNATE FIX is.... ;) hopeing it is just spliceing in a section of rubber hose... cuz takeing the airbox and ecu and battery and all that stuff on the right side, seems like quite the job......... unpausing... THANKS FOR SHAREING THE VIDEO!!!

The way my heater hose broke it popped off from the connection to the egr valve so i HD to order one off rock auto and it was made out of metal instead of plastic

If I remember correctly it's just a plastic hose pressure formed fitted over a nipple so I sliced it and pulled it off

Thank was a really pain in the ass my finger got fuck on the mission to make sure I was not breaking something else 😅BTW I had problems looking for the same part and the one I took out was toast no way to get it fix
