Bought mine, and I'm only a PV2 in the Army (used my bonus). Being stationed in SW Texas, my parents had to drive it down from Chicago as I bought it on my leave after AIT graduation. My dad, after long owning foreign sports cars (including a 996 Carrera 4 and a Ferrari 360 Spyder), absolutely loves my car.

Since my last comment three weeks ago I ended up buying my Bullitt (#2978) and love it! In the couple of weeks I've owned in I've alreay clocked about 3500 miles & I haven't had any problems. I did take it back to the dealership remove their sales security system that was hanging under the drivers dash. God I love this car!

Had a 2008 #4113 Loved it and miss it. Part of me wants a 2001 - and may do it if I can get more garage space.

It's not just that. The suspension, exhaust interior and everything is different. The car has been beating the SGT at the Ford Racing track. The bullitt also has the GT500KR rearend with a stronger ring gear and larger, more reinforced axle tubes. There is a lot more to the car.

i work for a ford dealership in new york and we have a black bullitt here. yes a black bullitt. its number 6517 of 7700 built in the 2 years of the bullitt run from 2008-2009 model years. in 2008 5600 were built, in 2009 only 2100 were built. the numbers from 2008 into 2009 were kept consequential. so this was the 917th bullet built in 2009 out of 2100 2009 bullitt mustangs EVER built. possibly one of only 700 09's in black due to the fact that 2/3rds of them were done in highland green

Too Cool. Much better rendering than the 2001 Bullitt. I'm looking at getting a GT but am actually considering getting a Bullitt. Pricing has leveled off and there are a few just sitting on the lots in our area. Oh & BTW I'm not a lawyer and this would be my daily driver not a hanger queen as the previous poster (Cruentus1) suggested.

I couldnt care less for nostalgia, the car looks great in its understated trim.

The '08 Bullitt represents a balanced car that serves fine duty as a daily driver too. It's obviously not a "bling" car, but that's what some people like about it. It's meant to be a driver's car, at home on the track or getting groceries. Well priced too for what you're getting. And it's a close to the 1968 car as your gonna get. I have an '01 Bullitt, but this one is closer to the movie car.

i never said 500 repurchased was a lot, but ford repurchased 0 7.3 powerstrokes and normally the owners got their blown up 6.0's replaced not getting their whole truck rebought.

imo the 99-04 was the best style and the 2012-current are by far the best bang for the buck and the 2013 just look sick with the new front and rear end styling

the bullitt comes in the highland green as well as black. i think the green looks better, but if you want a different color, black is an option.

@IamAtree000001 Special Edition Mustang, because the 1968 version didnt. And this throwback is designed to mimmick the characteristics. If you notice, the front grill doesnt have the striding horse emblem. Little things like that designed to make it like the one in the movie.

This would be pretty cool to buy used (obviously) and modify. New, lower suspension, wider tires, beefed up limited slip diff., bigger brakes, and to top it all off, Ford's own 428 crate motor (fuel injected of course) with around 500+ horse.

Love the sound from those pipes! V8s just don't sound as good as they used to these days.

no offense taken. this is my first car, and i had a choice for around the same price. about a year ago, i was in love with the mustang and that was all i wanted. then i actually read up on the facts. it has a prehistoric suspension, the engine is massive and only produces 300 bhp, and reliability isnt so great. so when i had a choice, mustang or mazda, the choice was a no brainer for me.

dude the thing is that the mustang needed to improve. some of the problems were that its v8 was massive compared to the microscopic horse power produced. so what did ford do? they needed to increase the engine .4 liters just to get 15 horse power? keep in mind here, it is possible to get alot of power out of a relatively small engine without supercharging/turbocharging. look at ferrari. 4.3 liter v8 making 480 bhp

no, i see your point, im just saying that for $30,000, which i consider a lot of money for a car, i would want some technology. taking an enormous engine and then having it only develop 300 bhp isnt really something i would want because a large engine like that still gobbles up fuel. i cant wait to see fords ecoboost, i think that would be a great idea.

Youve got to admit your Mach 1 is COOL though. I never felt like Ford has done the bullitt justice. I always felt it should have a 5.4L NA DOHC engine. not the base motor with a Cold Air Intake. The 03-04 Mach 1s and 03-04 Cobras were the best models since the 60's. To Bad Ford Fired the teams that brought us the BEST mustangs.

I own #4329 2008 Bullitt. the only thing is, after only a month of owning the car, a rattling and grinding noise started to happen. I took it back to my dealer and apparently the "transmission and gearbox" weredeteriorating, and will take almost 3 weeks to fix. quite frankly im rather upset and frustrated over the wole situation. while the Bullitt was working, tho, i absolutely loved it! i only question the reliability and durability, cause it ha LESS than 1,000 miles on it. so sad Ford....

The dealer near me has two of these. One in Highland green, and one in black. I don't see the point in buying a black one though.. Makes it less of a Bullitt IMO. I'm definitely going for the one in Highland green, if my current car can sell with this crappy economy : ( It's the perfect time to get a great deal on one..

@rorinda Compared to what? Supercars? The 2010 Camaro SS goes 0-60 4.6-4.7 sec. This goes 5.0-5.1. Subaru Impreza WRX STI 0-60 in 4.8-4.9. Challenger R/T 0-60 5.2 seconds. I'd say it's pretty competitive. Depending on how good people are with manuals, I'd say that's a tight race.

Why do you think a live axle is ancient. Yes its simple but its not a bad design. Its actually more effective on the track albeit a little harsher on the street

i'll take the slightly redesigned 2010 mustang. it's going to have the same performance enhancements as this bullit as stock on the GT anyways. plus it looks leaner, tighter, and meaner although i'm still a bit iffy on the new looks. i'm not completely sold. i guess i'm sold enough though lol

p.s. you basically proved to me that drag racing takes no skill other than shifting, which granted can take some ability. but in a circuit race, they also have to worry about mis-shifts and the job is harder because they have to shift for corners. your uncle basically can win races because he has more upgrades than the other guy. but, when you upgrade the engine, you need to upgrade the suspension and the brakes to counter all that power. did he do that?

In States the price is somewhere $28-30k? I live in Finland and they don't bring Mustangs here. There are several things you have to change on that car: seat belts, windshield, turning signals... So that it would pass these EY specifications.. And believe or not, what will be the price in here for the regular GT? In America it's about $26k, here about 60-70k in euros, that is about $100k. Price for Bullitt version could well be something $110k in Finland.

Don't get me wrong, the new bullit mustang is pretty great, as it is with all new mustangs for the past 45 years, but I would much rather have a 68' Bullit mustang

care to elaborate why you think that bullit>shelby gt?? a 3.73 alxe ratio really that big of deal compared to a 3.55?? or is it the slightly smaller sticker price?? im not tryin to argue, but does the axle ratio and adaptive spark igition system really make a huge difference?? id say no.

So this bullitt mustang got to 60 in 5.1 secs but when they went against the challenger it was 5.4 secs.They need the same driver to do the mustang Kr's time over cuz it can do way better than 4.9 secs.

@tctcintegra93 SRT4 Is supposed to be faster I believe. The Rousch Mustang was made as a track car. Totally modified suspensions. So yeah, they are supposed to beat it.

yeah the 2010 has a way better interior then the 05 . I loved it more when I saw in person . At the L.A auto show they had the v6 model and the gt model . The v6 model has a better front bumper . I was not into the front diffuser spoiler .

Do you have sources noting the gt500 rear end with stoner ring gear and reinforced axle tubes?? I have looked and looked and not found anything like that on a list of mods. Ford backs that muscle with the Tremec five-speed manual transmission (no automatic will be offered) and the usual 8.8-inch rear end packed with a set of short 3.73:1 gears. (The GT runs a 3.55:1 set with the manual transmission.)

@Drakedragon1315 My father owns a '08 Bullitt, and I can assure you, it's a lot of fun. Every Chevy that I've owned has gone wrong, but every Ford has i've had has been reliable as a steam train.

no it really doesn't. just put your foot down all the way and have a more powerful car than the other guy. honestly, i think it takes more skill to play the lottery. i have an 04 mazda 6s v6 and it corners very well also, i have yet to bring it to a track, but i will soon. i live in new jersey, all the tracks here are members only, but one day ill take a trip to virginia, because they have one. and, when i go to college at ucla, you know ill be racing at willowsprings/laguna seca.

this new bullit is slick, i like the 01 model but this one is more origonal. slap on some long tube headers and some nice cams and it would be that much better! not sure if i would want this or the new 370z hmm maybe both?

@chazmataz25 so true. My friend lost traction around this turn in a 2008 Bullitt at like 50 mph and crashed into the side of a common neighborhood sidewalk . The accident ended up cracking the front axle. The worst part though,is that he doesn't own the car, it is his brother's car. Two- thousand bucks, bye- bye.

And yet the ZR1 relies on a Supercharger to get its ridiculous level of horsepower. isn't the 5.7 Liter enough? does it *really* have to be blown, too?

well, my point was that if ford just wanted 300 bhp and no more, they should have just made a v6 turbo or a small v8 like a 4.2 liter or something. it would have been more acceptable, and maybe get better gas mileage.

Thats not a lot of power since it ties the new dodge challenger 0-60 and the challenger weighs 3 times this little car. They both look fun as hell to drive though.
