This 2009 crash test demonstrates how vehicle size and weight influence outcome in a multi-vehicle car crash.
In the test, the 2009 Honda Accord and 2009 Honda Fit traveled toward each other at 40 mph, with 50 percent of the Fit’s width overlapping the Accord. The structure of the Fit, which weighs 875 pounds less than the Accord, didn’t hold up as well against the larger vehicle as in the car-to-barrier tests on which IIHS ratings are based.
Accord's overall evaluation: Good
Fit's overall evaluation: Poor
