Does any of you guys recommend this car as a daily car? I´ve always wanted to buy one of these but I don´t know if it offers a friendly fuel-consumption and if also does it truly has an excellent speed & acceleration, I have a 2008 1.6 Seat Ibiza and it burns a lot of fuel and it doesnt even has a good top speed, If I want an engine which burns gas, better be a turbo with an excellent top speed!, Also I love the design of this car

Pasión Automotríz Hey man just thought I'd give you a reply. Know this is an old video so I figure I might be the only one to see it for a while. I have an 06 gli I picked up last March and have been in love with it since then. It gets decent fuel economy, but of course depends on how you drive it. Cruise controlling during long road trips will get you about 29 mpg. If your having fun with this car and constantly going full throttle you'll get about half of that. The grip is astounding, and the turbo charged 2 liter is a joy to listen to on warm summer days with the windows rolled down. It does 0-60 in about 6 seconds, and will go well over 100 with ease. This car really shines on windy roads where you can really test its grip limits. It's an extremely fun and functional car overall, and at this point you can get an 2006 to 2009 for really cheap. Any gli made within those 3 years is gonna be almost exactly the same. Only problem I've had so far is that paying for premium gas in a city where gas is expensive can be a pain in the ass. But I'm a poor college kid and it's my only car so I realize that's a unique scenario. Hope this helps you out a bit. Let me know if you have any questions.

Nopal NoNTSC don’t know. But I can tell you my dads 2011 DSG is good so far. As long as you change the fluid every 40k it’ll be fine

drqt911 mine is for the 2.5L 5 cylinder not this engine but it’s a DSG Dual Clutch 6 speed auto and I literally have 323,000 on it now. Mine is an 08 and so far she’s still running original engine and trans just like she used to. The way they design the 2.5 it doesn’t really slow down with age. I’ve heard the 2.0T engines are much less reliable though. But the transmission shouldn’t give ya no problems. If you get a 2.5, I can assure you the engine, trans, and suspension and struts and all will last a long long time. But you have to replace coils a lot, it goes through brakes completely literally once a year, you will have to have fuses replaced, the interior falls apart, the headlights with H7 bulbs were shit and I had to completely replace them with aftermarket (I used spec d) last year, the water resivour goes out fast and has to be replaced… and less mechanics know how to work on them and charge more for labor and parts than something like a ford. But I’ve worked on my own cars for years and my cousins are mechanics, so it didn’t cost me much using duralast auto zone parts to fix and doing it myself. Aftermarket generally works better than the parts it came with. But it’s durable as fuck, I live in Alabama and Georgia and I’ve hit a million trees. Doesn’t even phase it. It’s a HEAVY car for the size, about 3.500 lbs. and it got shot with a .40 cal pistol through the side of the trunk and didn’t even penetrate. I painted it and hit it from the inside to knock the dent out. You can barely tell now. So yeah, it’s kind of up to you if ya wanna fuck with it or not. Hope that helps ya

Andrew Slatsky I drive an 07 Jetta 2.5 with 238k. Mines been good to me so far except for a fuel pump and trans mount. Trans is a little jerky (mount or fluid). Not the DSG. I’ll probably be getting a new trans if I don’t change the fluid some but mk5s are awesome. Hopefully I can make it to 323k miles in the near future. I’ll drive it for another 2 or 3 years and upgrade to a mk6 GLI or mk7 and will keep it too because we all know a stealership isn’t gonna pay shit for a 12 year car with 200k+

My neighbor has one of these, except it isn't a GLI.

the MK5 is a great generation of the Jetta. The GLI just adds some enthusiast flavor to it
