It’s not so much a gm product, however the 2.4 & 3.6 are garbage. The 5.3 L is literally un breakable.

Did you ever find out what was the problem?

I didn't use a gauge , another trick you could use is to loosing up the bolt for the pump slowly and just a little and see how much resipiscence you pushing it back . you may have to turn the crank pully a bit to reduce the resistance in order to meet the top dead center

Appreciate the video. I also was getting the codes P0090 &P16a1 and brought to a local mechanic to have it serviced. They said both fuel pressure sensors had to be replaced. The one at the engine on the fuel rail and the one at the feed pipe..Dont know if that’s the high pressure pump. Either way it was about 6 months ago and getting the same codes. The mechanic said I may have a bad computer in my terrain and would need a new one? Is that possible with no other symptoms? Or could it possibly be the high pressure fuel pump, if it wasn’t what they replaced? I would like to hold the garage responsible if they didn’t address the correct problem. Here are the part numbers they replaced. Fuel pressure sensor (13500745) and fuel pressure (12635273). Thanks for your help.

If you are getting the same symptoms and same code you may need to replace the high pressure fuel pump. I would get it inspected and looked at by a professional mechanic and see if you are running into the same problem. This pump is common to fail in these vehicles . Good luck

It is none serviceable, Meaning there is none. It's for the life of the Fuel pump, Part of the Fuel pump .

Usually when you get p0016 p0017 on these engines very likely it is a timing chain job is needed, P0089 and P228d can go along with the p0016 and p0017 codes. P0ac4 usually indicates you either had or have an issue with your ignition switch or starting issues. I would start looking into diagnosing the timing chain and replacing it first and work on other codes if they still presents after the replacement . Hope this helps . Good luck

@@h.gaming6745 the p0172 could be an indication of bad high pressure fuel pump. Did he look at live fuel trim data . what symptoms do you have . does the car feel like it remains running for couple of seconds when you shut it off and turn switch off ?

I didn't, when you put it in you will fee a bit of resistence because of the top dead center and position of pistons . Play it safe and and make sure position of pistons is right otherwise. When removing it . Go slow when unscrewing the fuel pump screws

Auto Repair Champs I have the 2014 equinox 2.4 engine. It’s not giving me any code but it turn has the engine reduce with the vehicle stabili track on. Try to accelerate you can hear a rattling noise. Now there a gauge your suppose to top dead center before installing the high pressure fuel pump which I don’t understand the instruction?. So if you can put me in the right direction if the high fuel pump is in the right direction. I did check the code it P0090& P0092 which relate to fuel pressure control circuit /high

what code are you getting , did you run a full scan? Could be a vacuum leak

@@Houstontex23 Have you done Vacuum Leak Test, there might a vacuum leak somewhere , Did you try to Clean Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) System, How did you test Throttle Body ? How about the air filter ? is it clean ?

One more thing , Are you hearing any riddling coming from the engine , Possible timing chain area ?

I changed the high pressure pump didn't change in any way. I clean the throttle body. Air filter is clean. When i make a left turn I hear a rattle noise, but mechanic said is most likely the cv joint. I only hear it on the turns. Pcv not sure which one is that

You can only put it on the camshaft cover side of the PCV system. It helps in the winter to keep moisture and oil mist out of the tube and prevent freezing. Even the catch can needs checked and cleaned. Test the PCV orifice at each oil change. Go to Chevy Equinox Forum on FB and look in the files tab. I have a document on the PCV system.

@@dennisjames1945 it was the darn pcv valve. Dang truck gave me a headache over a $10 part 🤦🏾‍♂️

I had to change the HPFP, fuel rail pressure sensor, and both actuators.
