So glad I came across this video. I never even thought of changing the transmission oil in the car. It's a 2012 had it for 2 years and no listing anywhere of when it was last changed. Seems like that will be this week's job along with the oil. Thank you for your help

Idk these cars are kinda a pain. Motor blows and gets a recall for it. Rubber Transmission lines breaking because they are too short and crack. And that’s because me and my dad stay on top of maintenance.

Totally awesome video. short and straight to the point no bs no obnoxious background music. would have been even better if you remove / drop down the engine cover on that side of the vehicle to access the transmission drain plug instead of cutting. but overall, awesome video. thank you so much for showing us how this DIY. I have a 2013 hyundai sonata and I need to do this. liked and sub!

Thanks! Great video. Solid visuals to help locate everything and follow the process. You didn't mention if the fill hole needs to be open when checking the level but I noticed the funnel still inserted as you went to show the location of the fluid level viewing port. Quality over quantity in this video! New sub for sure.

So the temperature range is it supposed to be a 122 to 140°. Are you using a scan tool to get this exact temperature and if so did you have to load a custom PID to access this, and if so would you share the Hyundai specific PID ?

Excellent video. The main problem with my 2015 sonata is that I have no clue how or where to put my floor jack on the undercarriage to safely jack up the vehicle. I have seen an older video where he rigged up 2 X 4s along the sides under the doorjam... but why is that necessary?

Luckily I had your videos for my 2014 Honda and now my 2011 Hyundai lol! I am currently changing the trans oil. I filled her up with about 3 1/2 qts because there was a small leak thru one of the bolts on the back side of tranny. I wanted to know can I still fill up the transmission oil thru filler while car is on and overfill cap off? Or do I need to turn car off to top her off with overfill cap on and then turn her on and remove the overfill cap? Thanks in advance!

It does, but you need to take the trans pan off, and you should never change the fluid and filter both pick 1 or the other

Is the whole trans fluid flushed this way? What about the fluid in the torque converter?
@MrRangerZr1
@MrRangerZr1 7 ай бұрын
Can't get everything out. And the term "flush" is not to be used with transmissions. Flushing transmissions will destroy them. Drain and fill like in this video is all that's needed.
@josea285
@josea285 6 ай бұрын
can't you technically drive it for a minute then drain it again so all the fluid comes out?
@artsnow8872
@artsnow8872 5 ай бұрын
The torque converter holds some fluid. To give the new fluid a chance to circulate into the torque converter, I'd drive it several hundred miles, and then drain and fill, again. Years ago, some torque converters came from the manufacturer with a drain plug. Alas, no more!@@josea285
