Here is a quick video showing where the engine coolant temp sensor is and how to change it. This car had an error message stating: AC off due to high engine temp and the cooling fan was on at full speed when the car was completely cooled off from sitting overnight. I've changed both temp sensors 18 times and It will do good for a day or so then the same message..

My first thought is maybe thermostat. Someone may have mentioned that in the comments.

It’s the thermostat and hose. They had a recall on the hose part. My car is doing now. My son has changed his hose & thermostat 3 times in his.

There is another sensor in the radiator…. Its the same sensor that goes on thermostat.

My 2014 Cruze had a message “A/C off due to high engine temp” the fan was running at full speed and the temperature gauge was on cold. It had a P0128 code: engine coolant temperature (ECT) below thermostat regulating temperature. The coolant level was a little low so I topped it off and drove it home. Halfway home the message and fan went off and the temperature gauge was operating normal. What can this be?

I'm your case, it could have been that you didn't have enough coolant for the sensor to have a continuous reading or your coolant temp sensor is going bad or the wires are starting to corrode as shown in this video

I've changed mine and the thermostat like 5 times. its lasts for a random amount of time under a year then the alarm comes back

Are temp sensors similar? The water housing sensor & the one by the radiator? If so what are the part number I need the one by the radiator but so hard to know difference

I will research and get back to you tomorrow I think there should have been a link in the description for the temp sensor I used. I believe they are the same but, I will get you that answer tomorrow

I have the same issue. I replaced both sensors and the thermostat. Now the car does fine driving around town but as soon as you get on the highway and hit the cruise control it automatically throws the message, temp goes to zero and the AC shuts off. I saw somewhere that it could be a problem with my ground going to the battery so that is the next thing I’m going to try.

Change the sensor on the radiator… if you look opposite the ac compressor.. its the same sensor that goes into the back of the thermostat

@@zeusolympus5665 I actually had replaced that sensor as well. I ended up taking the thermostat back out and saw that the new one I installed was faulty. I got an another one from Advanced and the car is fine now. It’s crazy that a brand new thermostat would be faulty after that short of a time. I mean it does happen but I’ve never had it happen with a thermostat.

Does the engine temperature sensor helps with loud fan noise when driving?

The temp sensor controls the fans and fan speed (I think). I doubt know if changing your temp sensor will fix your particular issue

In my case when i’m on the freeway the temperature rises and this message appears and after driving for a while the overheating alarm appears. But when I stopped and check my temperature in my scanner it is on normal temperature and after waiting for maybe 5 minutes the temp gauge lowers down to normal again. Why is that happening do you have any idea? And by the way my mechanic change the head gasket, thermostat and the coolant sensor already. Thank you in advance.

It's common for the wires to be corroded in the plug for the sensor. I would visually inspect them. I am pretty sure they sell a pig tail for that sensor because of that issue. That's all I can think of at this time. Let me know what you find out

Chevy Cruze 2015 , Radiator fan running continuously solution? When iam starting the car after 30 second the fan starts continuosly not stopping... any solution

Did you already change the temp sensor? That was a symptom of a bad sensor on this vehicle.

@@DCAutoEnhancement no didn't change the sensor but this problem comes after I installed new radiator, before it was ok .but today after installing the new radiator the fan continues running so i think may be Relay problem or senor please tell me ,

@@deepsharmaaa maybe double check the connection on the temp sensor. It is common for those connectors to corode or maybe it didn't get plugged back in?

Not if it is the upper coolant temp sensor and as long as it's cold

If that didn't help, you may have an issue with your timing chain. I don't know for sure, but that's where I would look. There is also a reluctor on the sprocket that could be bad. It's what the sensor is monitoring.

I would make sure the connection is good. The one I did had a lot of corrosion on the wires

Unplug battery for 5 min then start it up computer will reset

My cruze shows normal temperature when it's parked. As soon as i start driving the car, the temperature guage starts going towards cold. Is it the thermostat?

I can't say for sure without doing some diagnostics but it sounds like you could have a thermostat stuck open

@@ecarver09 in my case, yes, the sensor fixed the problem. I can not guarantee that it will fix yours though. I have only seen one person in the comment section say it didn't fix their problem though.
