Good video for removal/install. I wouldn't flush the engine with hard water though. The mineral deposits will rust the water pump and corrosion will build up. I see it all the time. Just replenish what coolant is lost and properly bleed the system of air. Most of the coolant is in the radiator anyways. If you really wanted to, drain it again after running until the thermostat opens (to mix), let it cool and replenish again.

Thanks for the info. I flushed it more so because the coolant looked like chocolate fudge.

@@ultimatediyguy395 I get it. I'd just be sure to try and get as much (50/50) coolant in there as possible. When mixing concentrated coolant, you should use distilled water, not tap water.

Ya, I always use pre mix or distilled for customers cars . But my car and pickup has had a lot of tap water 50/50 in it.... and hasn't had any issues . Had the heads off my 3.1 (99 buick) and they were quite clean . Was actually shocked their was no build up from the tap water . . On a NEW car with smaller cooling passages, ya, distilled every time . But on my old 370,000 mile shitbox edition buick....nothing but glasgow MT city water lol . I'm sure some tap water has more stuff dissolved in it however (montana has pretty good tap water....read a study a few years ago)

Question do you need to clear check engine light after replacement of thermostat or will it clear out after a few drive cycles??

Where do you insert the garden hose to flush out the engine? And where is it suppose to come out?
@ultimatediyguy395
@ultimatediyguy395 10 ай бұрын
At 4:28 I put the garden hose into the upper radiator hose water will come out of the lower radiator hose. I Don’t recommend doing this though unless your coolant was milky like mines

@ultimatediyguy395

Assuming you removed all clips on all 4 sides. There are 2 AC hoses that sit in a little bracket on the radiator move them out of that bracket
@ultimatediyguy395

Try looking at your new radiator as a point of reference where the ac hoses sit in

Avoid using an extension that long whenever possible when torquing to spec. Torque ends up being less than what you set your torque wrench to.
