I owned cavaliers years ago and they were good. The old. 8 valve petrol engines. Not a fan of modern Vauxhall or fords with the Ecoboom engines. My two fords are have the old Duratec engines and my work horse is a Xsara Picasso with 2.0 hdi engine. 😊. Great videos 😊

Mk3 Cavaliers were the peak of Vauxhall's in general. So many variants to choose from including the GSi with or without 4x4, SRi. CDi. CDX, CDX V6, 2.0i, 1.8L, 1.8i and even the base 1.6L F reg original was a good car. They had other good cars during that time as well.. Senator, Carlton. Astramax 1.3L Vans... Then.... The VECTRA arrived.. That was were it started going wrong and were companies like Nissan and Toyota stepped in and showed everyone else how it was done.

I have had my 2015 Astra j 1.6 diesel for just over two years now and I am very pleased with it Comfortable to drive it is also the best car I have had for ventilation the windows demist Quickly also the is plenty of room in side and lots of room in the boot but the best thing is the fuel economy it averages 60 mpg on motorway runs up to 80 mpg it does help having six gears which makes the engine very quiet on long trips

I have a 2016 Astra K, the facelift from this J in the video. I got the 1 litre petrol 106bhp turbo 3 cylinder, and she is such a nippy enthusiastic little lady! She outperforms the 1.4 version which has less horsepower and torque! I keep her serviced every year at Vauxhall. 48,500 miles at nearly 7 years old and she purrs like a kitten, such a nice car to drive as a daily driver. She drives like a diesel and purrs up hills with an enthusiastic determined growl!

You'd be surprised at how many modern cars (inc most golfs) just have a crappy beam axle and not independent suspension at the rear.
@BigPaul629 ай бұрын
At least it's simple and cheap to maintain with just the two bushes two wear out. Most of them work well.
@timhancock66269 ай бұрын
It's actually a very simple and clever solution. You don't get the alignment problems of independent set ups. Camber also stays constant which helps predictability at the limits of adhesion. It's cheap to produce and easy to maintain. My car has independent rear end and it has cost me a bit to get the alignment right.
@BigPaul629 ай бұрын
The last good Vauxhall was the Cavalier MK3 preferably with the 2.0 8V engine. Brilliant old cars. Astras up to the MK3 just about passed muster too. The twin cam ecotec engines are a pile of crap and warp, blow headgaskets and overheat.

@@alan4x I haven't owned a Vauxhall for about a decade.. Do they still get through suspension components as fast as they use to do? I remember the wishbones were pretty light weight on most models. I bet Vauxhall made a nice little earner from that obvious scam. .Perhaps they still do.. Like I said I stopped buying them a long time ago due to general build quality. The DMF's on the diesels generally fail 10-20,000 miles earlier than the equivalent Ford too. Ford TDCi 2.0 DMFs can last 130,000 miles if they have not been driven hard. It is expensive I agree, the issue with these type of cars with auto boxes in is that they’re effectively scrap if the box shits itself. Few garages will get involved with that repair. But the price is what these are fetching unfortunately. There also needs to be enough of a mark up as well to cover the high possibility it’ll be coming back with various spurious problems.

The oil cooler also went wrong. Was replaced but the car leaked coolant afterwards and that fault could also not be fixed. Part exchange it in 2018. I see it’s been off the road since 2019 😂 Glad I got rid.

Detergent in cooling system? that flushing style video, would be great to see. I mostly use water(With gun") and yes it takes time and newer come out fully. so alternative methods re allways welcome.
