2011 Chevy Equinox Rear Wiper Blade

How to remove the rear wiper blade on a 2011 Equinox. If you can't find your owner's manual, like I couldn't... don't ask the dealership like I did. It's not hard, and it's not expensive. Do it yourself. I almost got ripped off.

Thank you to the people that have been polite and thanked me for posting this. Since up to now I was the only one with a video for this year model on how to do this, I can see it has helped a lot of viewers. Awesome. To the ONE PERSON that felt the need to message and insult me about the video format, whatEVER dude. You were hunting for the info too, and you found my video, and it helped you figure out how to do it too. The fact that you can't be bothered to even say thank you just shows your poor character. If you didn't like my video, you didn't have to watch it.

Thanks for posting this. It works exactly as you describe. The only tricky part is in putting on the new blade since the rivet pin must align with the clip that holds it in. I found it helpful to shine a penlight up into the bottom of the wiper arm housing while aligning. This allows you to see the clip in the reflection in the window while you are working. Very easy when you know how to do it.

fastbusiness I had a momentary difficulty with that as well. I finally had to just go by feel. It really is an odd design since you can't lift the arm far enough to actually see what you're doing. That's a really good idea though to use the window like a mirror. Mine is tinted dark enough that would work. Thanks for that tip. :-)

We have a 2014 Chevy Captiva. The owner's manual was useless for this. We just couldn't get it to budge. Your video was a life saver! :-) Worked like a charm for us! THANKS so much! :-)

Thank you Tala. I'm sure you said this and I missed it, but the confusion to me was "pulling down the wiper". I thought you meant pulling down the plastic cover, but I found you actually pull down on the wiper blade, the part you buy at the auto store. Again, it's early I'm sure you said it, but I wanted to post it just in case. Again, thanks, you saved me time and $....

Its that easy, wow. I looked at it and wanted to keep bending in towards me. Guess I would of had to get a entire assembly. Thanks for your post, good luck with your help, don't sell yourself short.

+Eaglescout68 I was REALLY glad I figured it out before pulling it too far and breaking it. I don't get why they didn't make it possible to lift the arm farther. It's kind of a hassle because you can't see what you're doing when you put the new one in. Using the reflection in the window as someone mentioned to me does help though.

You're most welcome. I was losing my marbles trying to figure this thing out. I was going to make a second one, showing how to install the new blade but haven't gotten around to it. It's really simple though. The wiper blade I got did have a little hinged plastic tab that needed to be removed that also baffled me. Asked someone at Autozone and he just snapped it off. lol So then it just presses into place. Looking at the old blade once it's out should have made that obvious to me, I guess BUT... it's the first time I've had any vehicle with a rear window wiper. :-) Thankfully, I had a conversation with upper management and was compensated for the trouble I was put through. The person I spoke to was very apologetic and concerned. When I went in for needed service the next day, that department was buzzing with activity and on the ball. I don't think I'll have any more issues there.

this video brought joy to my life! lol. So simple.....yet if you take it in to the dealer it's probably 50 dollars to replace it. furthermore, i just bought a rubber insert to replace the broken down one. 3 dollars and 15 minutes of my time. Thanks for the video. P.S. I have the same year.model equinox as you. I'm pretty happy with it too.

thank you Smith! i couldn't figure it out, but thanx to this video it was just like you said and yes i've gotten ripped off at the dealer with an oil change and a wheel rotation once, all they did was put air in my tires and reset the oil life on the dash board anywho thanx again! xo xo xo!

I have to be honest i'm was not thrilled that you didn't show you changing it. However i do know how to listen and i thank you because the videos i've seen they had one long plastic cover over the wiper where mine is like yours in two pieces. very easy thank you again

This video helped me replace the rear wiper on my wife's 2011 Terrain, but not on my 2011 Equinox - my LS/LT has the 1-pc wiper arm you mentioned. It's stupid that Chevy did this. It would've been cheaper for them and easier on the customers.

+OriginalS1x Hmm.. well the arm is all one piece but you don't replace the arm like the dealership employee suggested. Mind you, I have the LTZ and I don't know what differences there may be on the LT... BUT... lol I can't imagine replacing a whole arm. That would get truly expensive. They all have a removable wiper blade so far as I know. It's just difficult because you can't lift the arm very far.

we have a 2012 equinox and love it buy we have the same issue its like a cheap blade from factory

Justin May Mine was previously owned by a car rental in Hawaii, two yrs old when I got it, so no way to know how old the wiper blade in it was. I won't assume they put new ones on it before selling it. lol Who knows. I live in a hot, arid environment, so it's not really unusual to me to see a wiper blade need replacing after a year.
