I got one from 2009 for 25 euros in mind condition but sadly the battery is swelling and destroyed the trackpad so I have to replace the trackpad and battery and replace the hdd with an ssd drive

@@nadhirah5675 Do not buy these 2011 macbooks theres this very common issue where the gpu just fails and what i mean by is fails theres gonna be these ugly annoying green or different colour lines all over the screen and it is not usable i had one a 15” with an core i7. It is good but the gpu is bad to temporarily fix this you have to take it apart and heat up that gpu

The sad thing about the 2011 15 inch and 17 inch is that they are known to have gpu failures. Other than that, these are solid machines. I think the 13 inch was unaffected since it had integrated graphics. Still better than a chromebook

I've seen it first hand so I know exactly what you mean. The worst is when the screen still somewhat works but there is all green or red lines running through the entire image displayed on the screen. That's when you know the inevitable is approaching.. 😢

@@TechInsomnia late reply but the best part about that is that its fixable using dosdude’s gpu disabler. It’s not perfect as it doesnt allow brightness control anymore but it does get the job done and now my 2011 15 inch works perfectly fine again.

literally watching it on 2011 macbook pro. works flawlessly :) . sadly got battery issue as of recently and i don't know something it hitting the fan and makin noise, but other than that works just fine

Fresh Thermal on the CPU will fix that and you can find a quality battery for this computer on Amazon. Just make sure to check the reviews my friend 🙏

I’m amazed by all of the comments. I just recently fired up my 2012 MacBook Pro Retina, and after a whole thing of the boot drive failing and me having to figure out how to fix it without losing my data, it’s finally working like it should, but I can’t update to any of the new apps and the existing ones don’t work like they should, like Safari and even Reminders, even Mail. I assumed my hardware is just too old for the current software. I wish I could get it working as good as y’all’s is lol

You can brother. A Samsung or ADATA SSD and just KZfaq search OCLP and there will be videos by mr. macintosh that will show you how to get Monterey or even Ventura running smoothly in your computer. 🙏

Super snappy I have the same one, they don't build them the same anymore yes the new ones are thinner, but they don't feel hefty and premium. That keyboard though oof😮‍💨 can't beat how plush they type.

I use it for xcode and android studio, upgraded to OS Ventura, and it runs just fine. Certainly not the fastest but fine enough. 2011, SSD, 8GB RAM, dual core i5

I finally replace my battery today 😂 only time ever used it was to use the Microsoft word i had purchased for it. Always needed the charger connected or it would die. $38 for an amazon battery 🔋

Still using my 2014 13 inch MacBook Pro. Definitely slower but still works for everything I need it for. I’ll use it until it dies by itself. Best $1200 I spent on a machine

I'm watching this on my early 2011 13-inch MacBook Pro with a Core i5 processor and 8GB of RAM. It's still a reliable machine in 2024. I do wish Apple had retained some of their early design elements, especially regarding hardware.

As my second Mac I have a mid 2012 MBP with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD disk. I use it as a "desktop" computer connected to a 27inch monitor, in clam shell modus. It has the latest OS on it. Works fine. Now my Windows PC is gathering dust.

My macbook pro 2011 is great, it ran lion until upgraded to sierra because its actually better than high sierra, the default browser is chromium legacy because its new chrome modified to run on old os from 10.7-10.14 i think, the previous browser was interweb,bit actually runs windows 10 decently, wanna install windows 7 now, and its pretty fast

Well my Mother got a Mac book Aur 2015 and I got an Mac Book Pro 2017, and even tough the battery life is quite short and you cant download many apps, it works just fine if used at home. So I think old computers probably arent as good as the new ones, but they work atleast

Try upgrading the OS my friend. I was able to get High Sierra on this 2011 in the video and it can support the newest Google Chrome and many other new apps. You should be able to get OS Monterey on your 2017 which will give you better battery life and more speed for sure. Just make sure it's a fresh install in APFS. 🙏

Salam bang.. Saya baru saja membeli second Macbook pro versi 13 inch 2011 yg dimana macOS nya mentok di high sierra setelah saya cek di macOS compatibility. Tadinya saya mau gunakan untuk produktifitas kerja skripsi (office working) & juga editing video. Tapi setelah saya ingin mengunduh aplikasi editing video, ternyata tidak didukung dengan macOS versi high sierra. Apakah ada cara lain (solusi) agar saya tetap bisa menggunakan macbook jadul ini untuk produktifitas editing video bang, serta aplikasi office working yang tidak ada batas kadaluwarsa nya. Played minecraft on it, offline and online. Its good but Just need some good ram sticks, the fan will go crazy if you dont give it much space to breath so my legs are always up when i play minecraft.

Might need an SSD and fresh layer of Thermal on the CPU. Those tow together will reduce the heat significantly. 💯

... Slow? It loads apple's websites faster than any of my apple products. Granted, I do have older devices, but they are a but newer than that macbook pro.
