Being a mechanic by trade generally I don't watch videos like this but I've never done a wheel bearing on a Nissan before so I thought I would check this out quickly. This is a very nicely done how to video and you definitely just save me from breaking off the ABS sensor lol

It looks like the newer Rogues have a different design that doesn't have the outer ring. I am going to try and change mine out tonight. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.

Now I'm optimistic. I've done a lot of my own work, including replacing front struts and brakes on a 1999 Voyager, but I've always been a Chrysler guy (back to that 1962 Plymouth Fury...). But now my parents' Nissan Rogue has bad front bearings, and they can't afford a mechanic. I think I can do this thing, now. Thanks a lot!

Did you ever get it done? I have a Nissan Rogue 2015 that's making a terrifying howling noise when accelerating and a friend told me it's a bad bearing. Any tips?

@@Pingaheimer Yes, I did the job, and it came off successfully with assistance from the advice in this video. Some tips: Have plenty of GOOD penetrating oil. I use Kano Kroil, obtained via mail order; it's the best I know. A Harbor Freight or Northern Tool impact wrench and metric socket set is inexpensive and makes the job go much, much easier. You'll need a 32mm socket for the big nut at the end of the axle. Also, it's best to plan on replacing the castle nut and cotter pin which holds it in place (Nissan dealer, although your auto parts store might have a Dornan equivalent). Have it in hand before beginning the job. Personally I'd prefer using an OEM-spec bearing assembly over the Cheap Chinese Crap which was all that my parents could afford at the time...but, well, a month after the job was completed a semi sideswiped them and the Rogue was totaled (they're fine). Would have been wasted money in the end. Good luck! Edit: As they say in the video, be very very careful of that ABS sensor and wire!

That ring that holds the ABS sensor in place is removable. You don't have to remove the ABS sensor (which will break). You can pry the ring off the old one (in PA it takes a lot of bending and elbow grease) before you pound the hub and bearing out. Then you can take the new ring off (much easier) and snap it back on after you install it. It's not welded or held on with anything. Just the pressure of being against the axle I believe.

If you are asking how i knew the wheel bearing needed to be replaced, the answer is, the right front had a grinding/howling sound at highway speeds. So the owner asked me to replace bother wheel bearings just for future maintenance.

It books for roughly 1hr so it all depends on the mechanics rates. Anywhere from 90-120 dollars.

I'd be surprised if it doesn't come down with a RF ABS sensor code with all that tension on the ABS sensor wires...
@FreddysCarsaAndChaos
@FreddysCarsaAndChaos 2 жыл бұрын
Done it probably 50 times before and after on multiple brands of vehicles. Never a problem as long as the tension is kept to a minimum.
