This 2011 Ram 2500 came in for an intermittent, but mostly consistent no crank condition. We quickly called the WIN module, but there's always much more to the story.

@@Netherlands031 pinching off a brake line is a bit of a “no no”. Sometimes you could damage the inner lining of the rubber hose. It was a bit of a non issue anyhow, as the line was bad already, and what caused the caliper to drag and ruin the brakes. So Wes was joking that “professional” mechanics would unsubscribe because he clamped the hose.

Ironically, if he had not clamped the brake line, he would have quickly noticed the primary issue. Though a big clue to the bad hose was when he loosened the banjo bolt and brake fluid shot all over the floor.

I have been taking care of my sister in laws 2013 Dodge Dart with the same type of key. You have to wonder what Chrysler was thinking with this design. It's almost like they were trying for a 'push button' start but couldn't quite figure out how to make it work so they came up with this 'hybrid' system. I had a 2008 Dodge Avenger which had a 'normal' key but used the same type of 'wireless' system. On my car I found out that they also don't protect the 'WCM' from static electricity. One very dry day I went to start my car and a small static charge jumped from the end of the key to the switch. That small static charge managed to short out the Wireless Control Module and I ended up having to be towed into the dealership.

I'm not sure why, but pretty much every 3/4 ton Ram I've worked on has extremely uneven brake wear like that. My theory is that the left front caliper is the shortest circuit of the hydraulic system so it gets the most pressure, but that isn't how hydraulics are supposed to work.

@terryharvey4811
@terryharvey4811 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffs2809 Correct, interior of hose under release suction from master cylinder sucks shut, creating as you mentioned a check valve. This holds fluid and thus pads against rotor resulting in pad wear out. Most do not know that on brake release that there is a slight vacuum applied by the master cylinder. If you want to see it, just watch the piston when someone mashes the brake and then releases it after doing a brake job.

My 2 cent "from a bar stool" is that the valve was failing and this is why that side was screwed, and when he pinched it the increased pressure shut it for good. So it was a good thing. Maybe the valve rusted/corroded? pretty sure that brake liquid is full of water.

I hate how much we can do at home but now need computerized stuff to complete the job. I changed the sycro motor thing that changes the vent choice on a 2013 Caravan once. You still have to take it to the dealership to synchronize it. Such bs....

If you are a strong DIY, you may want to invest in a decent bidirectional scan tool. Spend $1k on a tool you will have for 3-4 years will pay off.

I have a theory why ppl dont seem to hear when their brakes are metal on metal, and this is from my own experience. Once the pad material wears off and things go metal on metal, stuff wears down to this point so quickly that once you do hear it, the metal part of the pads is already half worn down. This is what happened to me, i started hearing a grinding sound from the rear brakes, and just a day or two later the metal part of the inner pad on the rear drivers side was already half ground down in thickness and and also severely rust damaged, like those tabs that go into the bracket were basically completely gone. Later the same day the rear passenger side brake line popped. Yes it was a Subaru. To fix it would have been close to what i bought the vehicle for, so i stuffed it in a garage until i get it sold as a parts car.

I don't use grips to seal the old hose anymore as in my experience I think it damages the internal layer of the HP hose. I have some tapered plugs ready to use as a temporary stop tap. Speedy recovery Wes I'm sure that Redeye beverage will help.

Or just push the brake pedal down 1/2". Closes the compensating port. No flow.

One is from the influenza family, the other from the corona family. It's not a rebrand. Also covid-19 is the #3 cause of death in the US right behind heart disease and cancer, that wasn't the case with influenza.
