Good video. Would be helpful to include information about cleaning any corrosion where the cable connects to the battery.

These battery size/capacity should be increased in these vehicles because of the millivolts that the vehicle needs. In colder temperatures especially it can be difficult to start if they haven't been started & driven for a few days. The wiring harness/cables are barely long enough too.

My CRV 51R battery was terrible, so small that it died 10 minutes after turning on the radio. I replaced it with a Group 35 battery and I am as happy as a clam.

The 51R battery is listed here because that is what Honda recommends, and what comes standard with the vehicle.

Did you use a memory card to avoid the radio from locked on you?

Surprisingly, the radio did not lock or need to be reset, but I had prepared for that scenario.

I've just bought a 2016 mk4 1.6d ex auto It's still on the original battery so I guess I'll need a new one sometime soon. Did you have any electrical problems or dashboard issues after changing the battery?

Don't use the battery size indicated by him. Ask the person at the auto parts store. This size is wrong for later models. I just took this size out of a neighbors car - it was held in the car with a block of wood haha. Installed correct size battery, and no wood needed, and no risk of burning out alternator...

For anyone replacing their battery, here's something to be aware of and it's not a problem at all. It's just how the system functions. After you replace it, when you start the car for the first time, you may find that the security system complains that it lost power. It has you press the power button for a few seconds on the display unit. This resets the system. Also, in my case anyway, (2016 CRV) the display came on blank! I pressed the back button and it came on, but it seemed odd at first. All I had to do was press the power button again and all was fine. This video also proves that some people are just sh'i't disturbers! (not Grant!) LOL Someone, at one time, told me that to change the battery, you first had to connect a small 12V battery to the system to keep power going to the computer and if you didn't things go very wrong. LOL I didn't buy it, but with newer technology, I guess you never know. THAT is why I was searching for vids. Just to confirm that this was BS. Changing the battery IS as easy as in the video. I got lucky though. Both connectors on the battery were like new! Zero corrosion and no pretty blue snow crystals. LOL Thanks Grant. That made life easier.

I've seen references to needing to use a Memory Saver to preserve settings associated with certain computerized settings, in particular the radio's anti-theft device. They say losing those settings can be a bear to fix. Do you, or Grant, know if this is a risk?
