As far as I know, audi q3 does not have permanent 4wd. It's using haldex system, not torsen( permanent 4wd). Haldex system in normal driving condition is front wheel drive. The ratio is 95% front traction and 5% rear traction. When in need( when front wheels slips), the system send up to around 90% traction towards rear wheels. Torsen traction system it's all the time 4wd. The ratio is 50/50 front and rear wheels. When in need( any wheel slips) the system sends the power towards the rest of the wheels. The big advantage of torsen system is that is 100% mechanic and almost never breaks down and you have way more better control and stabilization on the road. The only downside is that you consume more fuel than with haldex system due to it's active all the time. The haldex system breaks down more often. Especially the high pressure oil pump of the system

Believe it or not that is a petrol engine rattling away there. I do like Audi, but I think the Q3 is one of its worst designs. From the side it could just about be any SUV....
