Great video. You don't have to remove the tire or the entire inner fender. Keep the lower front clips/ screws attached to the inner fender. Just pull the rear and middle screws/ clips. You'll have a large enough window to do the job

Thats crazy you gotta take wheel well liner out. Abt to help my father change his duramax filter. Iam use to my cummins fuel filters.

Yeah its not the best. They do sell a kit to relocate it or eliminate it all together.

Thanks for video. Is this the same for 2013 duramax 3500. Also when video started I remember background. Looks like ocean lakes. Visit there a lot camping. Just purchased my 3500. So I’m watching to learn the maintenance on it as it’s my first diesel.

greg ruppe haha small world. I used to live in Ocean Lakes. I believe it’s the same for all LML trucks.

Did my 2012 Duramax yesterday and advise anyone doing this job to purchase new push-clips and sheet metal screws. When you remove the plastic shield in your fender well the pins come out and 100% break. Some of the screws rusted and a shot of wd40 before starting is highly advised.

Yep you know someone got a raise for the idea of all those different fasteners. I need to keep those in stock.

Wow, they certainly didn’t make that vehicle easy to change a fuel filter. I am also looking into, as a new diesel owner, how often these fuel filters. Need to be changed, do you have any basic recommendation, or guideline.

I believe the manual calls for every 22,000 miles but I typically change mine every 15k or more less every other oil change when I am rotating my tires already. I never go by the filter life on the dash because that only goes by time unless the water sensor trips it to say replace. It's also easy to remember to change it with the transmission external filter on mine at the same time. Thanks for watching. I hope that helps you.

@@DaveMedicus I will check the manual, I just did the change, and the fuel filter that was there had about 30k miles on it. My "service engine soon" light went off after the filter change so it must have needed it anyway. One person in a video recommended changing the fuel filter every other oil change. I am sure I will find different options lol.
