I absolutely love this car. My dad has a 2012 LT Impala and it has been great. 300 HP, and reaching the top speed the speed limiter would let us go, which was 112 MPH. It really is too bad he doesn’t drive it anymore because of a steering issue. I miss the car. We sometimes would take it out for abuse with the peppy 3.6 V6 it has and run a few acceleration tests with it. It’s been a fun, speedy ride with her.

I have one. Fast car, but the brakes are terrible. Stops like a sub-compact at high speeds due to the weight, which is why I never got a tune for it. Wish it had good brakes like my 1LE Camaro. That stops on a dime at 150, but even at highway speeds the rotors will warp if you stop too quick, and so bad that it will ruin the calipers. Sucks as otherwise it’s a fun car.

@alexanderkennedy2969 yeah but my Acadia with the same engine and a lot of other family/grocery getter cars with v6’s accelerate the same from zero but have nothing once they hit 60 or 70 this thing still keeps going like a rocket at 100

@jackg3508 ай бұрын
@alexanderkennedy2969 yep 4 cylinders will get better mileage when there in vehicles suited for 4 cylinders like a hatchback or a crossover but when you through 4 bangers in full size SUV’s and tune them to make 400lb feet of torque not only will you get worse gas Mileage, those little engines will be done after 100,000 miles.

I loved it until it was stolen by a crackhead and he run over a fire hydrant at 80 mph knocking the right front tire clean off the car and tearing the front passenger door off as well. @thechannelofrandomvideos7897 ай бұрын
Well the 3.6 was used in many other cars like Traverse and Acadia, as well as Impala. So it makes sense they had to do it. These are family cars for the daily commute, not a muscle car used to tear it around. Although both Chevys, Camaro and Impala, are quite monstrous for what they are. Especially Impala since nobody expects it to have a Camaro RS engine besides people who actually know, like me.

I owned a 2011 Acadia with the 3.6 vvt V6 I think it's 303hp. It had dual exhaust, but twin pipe mufflers on both sides. I called this thing a sleeper from the day I bought it new. That thing would scream, take some twink in his sewbie at a red light and smoke him lol I just traded that in and bought a 2019 FORD FLEX LIMITED. AWD 3.5 ECOBOOST TWIN TURBO dual exhaust. My 06 3.9L monte runs 0-60 in 7.0 and I've never run a 1/4 mile with it but I'd assume low 15s. Just FYI, in 2006 the 3.9L was 242hp/242lb-ft and dropped down to i think 224hp right before the 3.6L replaced it. Its actually not that bad if you ever ride in one. I used to own an 03 monte SS with the 200hp 3.8L and I currently have a 3.9L 08 uplander cargo van. Honestly if I were to race them in a straight line, they'd be close...both mid 8s 0-60. And that uplander weighs like 4100lbs plus I have about 400lbs in it. I'm not saying a 3.9 is going to beat a 3.6 by any means but a 3.9 is quicker than you might think.

Say what you want but the 3.6 from gm hauls ass and sounds good too. Comparing GM's 3.6L and the Pentastar 3.6L I would end up picking GM. I think the Penastar sounds good and does move with the right trans but I feel the Gm still has better reliability. Eventhough I know some earlier issues and people knock it. I had a CTS in the past and, sold it several years ago. The car is still going strong with 220K miles on it. Original engine and ZF 6 speed. I had a 2015 Durango with the 3l6 Penastar and at 78k 2 of the lifters began to fail. I religiously maintain cars. So for me the GM wins that contest

These impala's starting in 2012 using the 3.6L V-6 have way more rpm than than the 2006-09 Impala SS 5.3L V-8. 6800rpm for the 2012 impala and 5800rpm for the 2006-09 impala SS.

@alexanderkennedy2969 Not by much. The 2012 and up Impalas have a 6 speed tranny which is infinitely better than the junk 4 speeds the 06-09 SS had in them. Also, those 4 speeds go out every 75k.
