Man, I remember having the crayon melter that came with superhero molds. Making random color crayon spidermans and batmans will always be a cherished memory. I remember them being textured and decent looking too, which is more than some kids toys now can say.

Micro Machines Super Auto World Playset was my JAM man. Had the bubble display up top you could put a car in and the little color changing car wash wheel. Lots of turning bits that were alot of fun.

I'm too old for that - but know them from my younger brother. My generation's Hot Wheels (80es toys) were the ones that get a dent on an accident. Technically by unlocking and flipping a torsion sprung block in the car body from pristine to smashed shape.

I had something similar to that back in the 70's. But I used old crayons after the original stuff ran out (no idea what they used originally). You would set the tires and axles in an upside-down mold and pour that into it. Wait a few minutes for it to cool, then pop out your new car. I most melted my crayons into the mold and used them to color. Looked much cooler than using an ordinary crayon

As a 90s kid I can say the toys had a perfect balance of danger, learning, excitement, and a hint of safety. They didn't assume we were all dumbasses and actually gave us toys that had the potential to hurt us.
