That GTS has 430kw and a blower but without supercar weight , tire, brake , suspension , handling advantages it be a lap behind after 5 laps still for a road car its faaaassssstttt

I love these fun comparisons. Though for fun, they should throw in an Astra and an old Gemini or something. As for comparing any production Holden to a V8 supercar, you might as well compare them to an F1 car... considering everything about the V8 supercar drive-line is race bred and not production bred. Still, any race is a good race.

the vx gts 300 surprised me, it must have a pretty beefy braking package compared to normal vx commodores as they seemed to hold up fine doing a lap of bathurst (with its steep inclines and high speed parts) the brakes on my mates vx clubby barely stopped the thing doing 200 on a flat road

I was impressed with the whole thing, those road cars with normal tyres, brakes and suspension and no stiffened chassis and all that weight did really well. Mind you, the guys driving also knew what they were doing. Imagine Barry Numbnuts trying a lap at that speed!!!

Looks like murph slowed dow along conrod and the run to murrys corner to make it closer than it would've been.

How easy would it be to stage the results when the race is organised by Holden.

With a couple of suspension tweaks and a better tyre it would have been interesting to see what that GTS could do then

That Vx GTS still looking sweet in 2020. Such a shame this brand had to finish. They made some fantastic cars over the decades. A huge loss to Australia. 😢

That gts is fast. 1800kg, no wing, road tires and suspension. I would be interested to know how much quicker it would be with all the useless shit taken out of it.

The Motor which is in the VF is the same motor in the Camaro ZR1 & the Corvette ZR1.

I find it sort of disappointing how so many Australians are bummed about Holden going out of business but I mean, how many of the people who don’t like that Holden isn’t a thing anymore actually supported Holden in anyway, buying new holdens, buying vehicles from Holden dealers etc. No wonder australia is 90% Chinese, no one is willing to spend extra on supporting Aussie businesses, they’d rather go buy cheap Chinese stuff that’s horrible quality 10 times instead of buying a really well handmade Australian made product once that’s 10% more expensive

The VX looked really messy in the corners compared to the VF, way more body roll and it was pitching everywhere. The VF was not put to shame in a straight line by the racecar either.

Here is the skinny on the V8 Supertourer engines. They are hand built at the Performance Build Centre in Michigan, USA. Holden Australia has no part at all in these engines.

Probably got more to do with stock suspension set ups compared to engine ability

You are aware that the Commodore is finished after 2016 as well.....Why.....Because it like the falcon can't sell. I think GM is about to pullout of Australia as well if the Government does not come to some kind of agreement.

Actually, the real test and differentiating factor is COST $$ / Lap time! Given the finish is only car lengths apart, the old 5.7 is the winner! In fact, throw some dollars down for a twin turbo kit, upgraded drivetrain and I think that Super car would have some concerns!

the fpv r spec does it in 12.3 over 95kw up and only .2 seconds quicker, and with only a tune to 385kw the r spec manages 11.8

the FPV GT engine is built overseas. The engine in the VF GTS is built in Australia, mate.

not in v8 supercars but in NZ v8 tourers the ford falcons use the 7lt v8 holden(chev) motor....which comes from holden australia

.2 seconds is a fair gap when going close to 200 kph and i think it would be hard pressed to do 12.3. Its also known that those 5.0 engines are making a fair bit more power than advertised. Again where is the proof of one doing 11.8?

great vid... real world road cars against full race kit. shows how hard the v8 supercars really go. i've gotta feel for the road version drivers, going this hard without the safety of the race version. one step into the walls could've been fatal.

As awesome as the demo showed the speed of a modern V8 supercar, it also showed the weakness of the earlier models. It's quite something for the newer vf to close a nearly 30 second gap...when in races lap laps are counted in micro seconds
