I'm a BMW fan, have had 5 of them, but I was shocked when I saw the X1's interiour compared to the EX. BMW needs to step up their game - big time. If I was shopping, I wouldn't even consider the X1 after seeing this.

I test drove the X1 and EX-37 (among others). I bought the EX, I''m 6' 3" and wanted an all-wheel drive sporty vehicle. My last car was the C-230 Mercedes coupe. Happy with my EX-37 choice. Nice styling outside and inside with power.

EX37 looks beautiful, stylish and elegant. X1 looks like it was mass produced on the factory, it doesn't have a soul.

I own an Infiniti EX35 and a BMW 330i. I can say without a doubt that I prefer the Infiniti over the BMW. The BMW may be the ultimate driving machine, but the quality and reliability doesn't come close to the Infiniti. Both cars have the same miles on them. The Infiniti has had no issues. The BMW has had a water pump go out at 45,000 miles, one cup holder replaced, plastic pieces falling off, to window regulators replaced, the trim above the windshield replaced, the radio does not play the station it is tuned to, and the radio readout is not legible when the temperature is warm. I now have a code indicating the thermostat needs to be replaces.

Totally agree with you about the manual mode being switched. A couple companies tried doing that when the tiptronic systems first came out. A few still do. But most found that the average consumer was confused by how it worked

Just bought the EX.. everyone at work wants one now too. I agree 100% regarding the shifting, that's my only gripe.. I rarely shift to "manual" since the engine's always present ~ very responsive.

Unfortunately most auto boxes with sports shift are like this. I don't get it either, very counter intuitive.

The ex37 wins in my books. The shifter argument is odd, I don't think I have ever had an issue shifting into 3rd gear in my manual 350z :P I added paddle shifters to my infiniti to make it even more fun :)

I currently drive the Infiniti EX35. The only thing I don't like about it, is the lack of room in the backseat. Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoy driving it. I would pick it over this BMW anyday. That X1's interior looks pathetic, boring and lackluster. My Infiniti is pearl white, so it gets a lot of stares. I raced a sport motorbike one time and he couldn't keep up, after a while we came up on a traffic light and he pulled up besides me and gave me a thumbs up. The Infiniti is truly a deceptive little beast of a car, with speed, luxury and handling. It looks "different" and unconventional, but it has all the bells and whistles, like any other Luxury car, without being unnecessary or over-stacked with useless, pointless, gadgets. I am a previous Honda Ridgeline owner, so "Unconventional and different with bells and whistles" is my type of vehicle. I haven't seen a Mercedes that I like yet, but soon as I do I will get one. But for now, The Infiniti is great!

I own a x1 35i, and lemme just clear the air, it’s better. The car is IMO better looking, but w an M-Sport body kit, a white wrap, custom leather interior, kw springs a tune, down pipe, custom exhaust, cold air intake I’m at 400+ hp. I got mine for 18k from a bmw dealership with 20k miles. For like 30 thou I can make it a killer better than mordern day cars

Both are nice crossovers dont get me wrong,there are a few things that BMW does one up infiniti on. But price and reliability are definitely not on that list . the BMW is nice the infiniti is also but whoever said BMWs are more reliable than Infiniti,You've lost your f****** mind do you research BMW's reliability doesn't have s*** on Infiniti

The Infiniti EXs (35 and 37) are ideal for a single person or a couple with the occasional passenger. As a family hauler, you better consider something else. As a former BMW owner (and currently a Nissan owner), I can say without reservation the Infiniti will have lower operating costs. The BMW turbo is very tunable, but it can also be a bit brittle and you'll find yourself addressing fixes large and small more frequently. Neither one of these rides are good for off road use.....both are glorified hatchbacks on stilts. Go look elsewhere if you venture on dirt roads.

@MotorPressReviews 10 жыл бұрын
It depends on the stroller size, the best way is to take your stroller to an Infiniti Dealer and try to shove it in the trunk. Just be aware that buying a new (compact) stroller is usually more economical than buying a bigger vehicle :) Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

For a fair comparison, it would have been nice if you would have given the X1 some film time to show off its handling/speed/cornering as you did the EX37. This video should be titled, "why I love the EX37". Which is fine. But not what I was looking for.
@MotorPressReviews
@MotorPressReviews 8 жыл бұрын
Not true. This was a review for the EX37 and based on price alone, I brought it head to head with the X1. I do not love the EX37, I just pointed out that since they were priced equally to the penny, the EX was a nicer looking CUV. If you need to know, I own an X3 and a Mini. Enough said.

A valet not in the right mind would treat your high production BMW the same as this Sexy Exclusive EX!There is nothing about BMW's in styling,material quality,or fit and finish that stands out,heck even Mercedes has been designing better looking cars(The Fat Cat Manufacturer!)!Reliability?I owned a 5 series!!Never again!

***** I don't really need to convince you as to why BMW and Infiniti are not sufficient competitors in luxury, but it seems that you are judging the entire BMW company based on one negative experience. The matter of the fact is that unfortunately, the X1 35i is on a completely different level of the "EX37", maybe the X1 28i is a little closer in comparison, but the 35i dominates in exclusivity and class.
@sssfusa
@sssfusa 10 жыл бұрын
What about high production dont you understand? what about cheaper materials? Rear wheel drive fun? Interior?exterior? Exclusive is nothing you can say about the x class all together
@crosseye789
@crosseye789 10 жыл бұрын
Don't worry about what I don't understand, worry about your own knowledge. Your argument is already flawed as the X1 35i is AWD, not RWD. The interior has authentic leather and wood. The package prices on the EX are higher than the X1's and also include less. In addition, the X1 35i is quicker in speed and boasts a higher MPG. Why settle for a slow, heavy, and a gas guzzling vehicle? Economics 101: supply and demand. There is a reason as to why the X1 35i is higher produced, and a reason why the EX37 is "exclusive", (because nobody wants it). This is just for the X1 35i. If you want even higher numbers in terms of MPG, take the 28i out; the EX is no match.
@sssfusa
@sssfusa 10 жыл бұрын
Your first point, you do not understand the difference between all wheel drive systems I'm not gonna bother banging your head against the wall there! Of course package prices are higher on the EX, with no reason?economist!lol! The EX its built on the Nissan Z platform!Something Nissan can not afford to mass Produce!Idiot who cares about gas mileage in a Z, or at this price tag ?! Enjoy your high production high-producing gas mileage dime a dozen BMW! What I spend more in gas I save and fixing and sitting without driving my car!

japanese is softer than german. to me the 'exclusive' look of the EX is typical japanese decor and faux luxury. especially the clock on the dash is overkills and ugly. posh is boring, BMW knows how to design. Infinity is so boring to look at.

Faux? Bmw on the other hand has only stuck to evoltuionary designs. We have all seen it before. Before you say I have never owned a BMW, well you are incredibly wrong. Fun cars but competition offers far more without headaches. BMW is the pioneer of automotive innovation, I'll give them that, but they sure aren't the quality leaders, nor are they performance leaders either in their respective segments excluding the M models.

design bro? for real? bmw interiors are so understated these days they are almost audi-like. the 6 series is probably the closest interior in the bmw line up you can associate with design. Mercedes interiors are much better these days.

kdu8004 well i drive an x1, the entry level cross over. with a 2.0 liter engine four cylinder and a software adjustment i can get 328lb torque and 311 HP. that's an engine. the software adjustment is done by Dinan who is partner with BMW. the car is made to produce that power in a 4 cylinder but it is downgraded for the american market. Infinity just puts a noise producer on the exhaust to make it "sound" cool. so boring. GTR is an awesome machine but the rest of Infinity is boring. Putting a sound producer on the exhaust is so childish.
@kdu8004
@kdu8004 9 жыл бұрын
John D So, you are comparing a Turbo 4 to a naturally aspirated motor? Of course extra power can easily be achieved from a tune on a turbo. But that's besides the point since it doesn't even come that way stock. And european market gets the same motor. They aren't going to make their 4 cylinder more powerful than the 6 cylinder turbo. It's basic marketing logic. But's its typical for the a bmw driver to not have logic so... And the noise producer? what is this witchery? Do you mean the exhaust system? LMAO. Yes. The exhaust system is a noise producer and does produce nice noises naturally unlike bmw whom pumps artificial sounds through the audio system. Not only that, you are comparing a car that is brand new to a 6 year old car whom invented this segment. Other wise your bimmer would have never existed. FYI, I like bmw because I have owned 2. An e46 ZHP and a 07 335i. I love them, and they are fun as hell but exciting to look at they are not and class leading nowadays? No way. Classy and built very well? Yes, you can say that. Infiniti is fun. Simply it's the japanese alternative to BMW at a discounted price which is fine with me. But there is nothing that new BMWs offer that the competition doesn't tramp all over other than the M segments. The E90 was the last good bmw period. Everything else has gotten heavier and less driver focus and more suited for the mass. They are globalizing and they want as much as the market as they can get. Which is understandeable. With that, you are going to sacrifice fun and exciting designs like BMW of old. Don't be a brand snob.

bomberman0r Looked an EX, I own an A4 Wagon (3rd German), looked at the X3, X1 and Q5, even though you get a more planted feel in the Germans, the ride quality and quietness of the EX, and the difference in "presence" side by side make the European offerings look conservative and use cheaper interior materials (where I spend most of my time) than the EX. Space aged compared to the rest.

Unusual to state at the very start of the review "the AWD EX is not designed to go off, road at all" , when you havn't even tried!! I know these types of reviews are pretty much peronal opinion, but sheesh, one might at least drive on a flat gravel road first before such a bold statement. I have one, and it absolutely eats mountain ski field access roads, which, here in New Zealand, are fuggin treacherous .
