I bought the 2013 Ram Sport 1500 right before Christmas last year. I traded in my 2005 Ram 1500 LT for this beast. My previous truck was a 3.7L V6 so having the 5.7L Hemi was an immediate return on my investment. My 2013 is fully loaded w/o the ram box. I've got this truck but in white with RamBox's and Air Suspension on order. CAN'T wait to get it!!! The wait sucks! (yes, 1st world problem) I got the factory spray in liner. Not sure why you wouldn't. One less thing to screw with IMO. The transmission is a ZF designed 8 speed which is also used in BMW, Rolls, and Jag. The grill shutters are more about MPG by allowing air to go around the grill instead of through it.

Yes I remember reading the article that Allpar.com put out several years ago regarding the V6 diesels made by Cummins. If I can remember, the larger 5.6 would have been pushing our more than 520 ft-lbs of torque or about equal with the generation 1 Duramax.

just yesterday I test drove 3 trucks, ram 1500 with 8 spd, f150 ecoboost fx4 and f150 5.0L fx4. I hated the ecoboost...the 5.0L was nice and I love F150's. Would have been the number one if it wasn't $10000 more the the same ram in this video. The dodge dealer lent me the Ram for 2 hrs and I loved it. The Alpine sound system is crazy good. It seriously shamed the f150 pretty bad. I'd get it with the air ride, hemi and loaded. Fast truck too, the 8spd makes it really fast

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the knob shifter, personally I think it works quicker and faster than the conventional console shifter or steering column shifter. Plus it takes up less space and cords etc. don't get wrapped around it, which is a problem in my friends '12 Ram with the original shifter

Beautiful truck, however, I think you might be making a mistake. V8 Hemi engines come with a 6 speed transmission and the V6 pentastars are the ones with the 8 speed transmission.

i just bought a 2011 ram crew cab slt a few months ago, and absolutely love the truck, but the only down side i hate is one of the safety features, and that would be the stability control. i dont mean traction control, i mean the thing that activates the abs when you fishtail. the only thing i would need to get used to is the odometer and rpm reader, with that big screen, and what i absolutely hate is that turn dial gear shifter, which i might be able to get used to, great video man! :D

this new 8 speed is german designed. I would be very surprised if it had trouble. Chrysler had to get permission from BMW to use part of the design, and part of that process involves reliability and longevity requirements.

Well my escalade ext had HIDS, ford f150 has stock HIDS, and quite alot of high end suvs all have HIDS. If dodge wanted to put the time and energy in to designing a projector that wont have glare, and that has automatic load leveling projectors (that lower when the truck is riding heavy in the back) to avoid glare they arent a problem. The problem are people putting HID kits in halogen housings that cause glare.

From what I've read yes it's the 3.0 and it will come out this fall. Too bad the 4.2 and the 5.6 diesels were shelved but this engine makes 265hp/420tq so it's not going to be a dog by any means. And I'm sure the aftermarket people will be on top of it quickly with turbos and tuners. Two small Garrett turbos would bump the power up to 350hp at least, with probly 50ftlbs more torque without getting too crazy with the PSI.

Thanks, I really like what Fiat and Chrysler has done over the years the few years they have been together, a lot better quality since the Daimler merger. You mention the urea or DEF, I think the Ram HD's should have went to that method from the very beginning.

I totally agree with you. If you check out the 2014 Dodge Durango interior, you find that in place of a Shift Lever, there's this stupid knob.

Gorgeous truck, have to say I had a bit of WTF moment when I saw the shifter knob though. I think I would prefer a standard style lever for that, that little knob just seems weird.

lol people seriously dont like the gear shift... i think its a good idea makes it easy if your going down hill and you want to go in to neutral seems like it would be really easy with this system. plus it doesn't take up as much space

just because its a german product doesnt mean its great. my aunt has a 2010 7 series with 70k miles and it already has had a trans. just because its a bmw and it cost more doesnt mean its going to last longer by any means. more gears=more clutches=more money to rebuild

no i havent had a bad experience because i wouldnt buy a Chrysler product in the first place. remember in the 90's and the cummins auto trans? lucky to get 50k on one. why do you think majority of cummins now are being sold as a manual? because in 15 years they still put out a bad auto trans. and they cummins have a 10 speed auto and its still horrible, it just cost more to rebuild lol
