To anybody in the comments saying how since it's a Dodge, it'll be in the shop 24/7, here's a little fact for you: they're not Dodge's. When Fiat bought Chrysler in 2009, Ram became it's own brand. And from what I've read, they're extremely reliable, especially with the Cummins.

and look where Detroit diesel is now, Cummins has been in business for 94 years, still going strong.

If I were you, I would just do the DPF delete. I'm now getting 19 mpg in town, and 22 mpg on the highway. I also have a hell of a lot better towing results. All in all, a DPF delete is worth it. I guess the DEF isn't too much of a problem though.

Any word on when you'll be getting the Infiniti Q50?

I love Ram HD trucks because they are avaliable with a 6-speed manual. But the powerstroke is more powerful.

yeah i heard ford did a ECU update for the 2011s. and anybody who brought a pre-updated powerstroke could get the upgrade from the dealership for free(as far as i can remember). i still think RAM makes the better rounded truck. it has a real engine, and a real transmission. you can put the engine to work with a 6-spd manual.

If you dont fill the DEF will the truck not work? ie turn on?

It is quite obvious why more people are choosing/switching to Dodge. People are fed up with Ford using them as test subjects on their different engine designs. Everyone had such high hopes with the in-house diesel from Ford but once again, Ford ended up with another headache to deal with. While GM has a nice HD truck for Harry the home owner, they just aren't built heavy enough for the everyday use and abuse that the workforce deals out.

Looks cool and I am not a RAM fan but their improvements are outstanding. BUT be careful y'all, you may need a CDL for these bigger trucks if your towing a goose neck other than a RV trailer.

Is it true that if u dont have DEF fluid it won't run at all?

The reason is the clutch would be so stiff that the user experience would be poor. I am not sure the manual can handle the power either that is why they tune based on what transmission is in the truck. Many semis are also going to automatics because they are stronger. Manuals don't sell well overall and they do have their niche but volume makes money more than niche.

Next time, read properly. a) I was referring to your apparent dislike of DEF. DEF and/or particulate filters allow Diesels in America to be cleaner than petrol (gasoline) engines. Traditionally, diesel produced less CO2 and CO, but more nitric oxide and particulate emissions. DEF and/or particulate filters reduce this to same or better than petrol car levels. b) My daily driver is a diesel. The other family car is petrol, so I am familiar with both and can see pros & cons both ways.

just because of the DEF? the trucks are still flippin phenomenal. I have a 2013 and DEF cost is really nothing, and I LOVE my 2500. Tows my 13,000 toy hauler like its nothin

Actually, that's not the highest trim level. That looks like a Laramie. The highest trim levels are the Laramie Longhorn and the Laramie Limited (the limited has an all-black leather interior).

I think trucks nowaday should have a complete work option Avaible with all the cabs BUT it has none of the bells and whistle. Only an air condition no radio no nothing. Besides some nessicites. Storage, No power windows. Just a truck ready for work basicly.

it looks like a "rich fancy interior" because they are test driving the ram with the highest trim level. Duh. If you don't like it then get an st or something that has nothing inside but the essentials. People are hard to please these days. This truck is pretty impressive actually.

why not use a professional camera crew to make the shots steadier and smooth transitions? Even the colors look way too pale in brith sunlight.

my friend had a 2005 limited Dodge 3500 SRW 5.9L Cummins 4X4. The interior was nice but still a good truck interior. Not luxury vehicle.

Powerstroke in this segment originally was set at 375hp, and 765ftlbs of torque, instead of releasing a better engine, what does ford do? They retune their piece of junk powerstroke, to run harder, yes its an engine flash you can go to the dealer to get, that is basically going to destroy the engine so that ford could keep up with Dodge. But who cares it's a ford anyways, they breakdown at least once a week.

I am not big fan of the 2013 dodge Ram heavy duty trucks. I have a 2012, and it doesn't need diesel exhaust fluid. Dodge doesn't need to put all this crap on their trucks!

No and yes, if you run out of DEF fluid it limits your top speed to 45mph. If you don't get DEF fluid in time it will shut your engine down. I think its the it's the single most stupid thing anyone's ever come up with.

ew. the dash look horrible. what happened to ram 2500&3500's being trucks? now their like everyone else. rich fancy interior. The old ones are more cool. plus dodge or "ram" was known for manuals. now their trying to get rid of the manuals. why cant the 850ft motor be paired with a manual??? 18 wheelers pack 1000+ ft lb of torque through 13+ speed transmissions...

I suppose you'd prefer that you and your family breathe in dirtier air and have health issues.
